Salary circa £37,000 - £47,000 per year _(dependant on qualifications, experience and location)_

Your Fire & Rescue Service is looking for new talent following the introduction of the new Building Safety Regulator and fire safety legislation following the Grenfell fire in 2017.
A Fire Safety Engineer plays a crucial role in the Fire & Rescue Services'continued pursuit of improved fire safety.Preventing fires before they startyou will play an active role in the review of fire engineered solutions and will liaise with and consult outside bodies and internal departments with regard to fire engineering matters. The Fire & RescueService also influences building design by working with stakeholders and other regulators to ensure fire safety is considered at the outset of major building projects. The role is a uniformed, non-operational role.
It is essential for the Fire Engineer to have the following skills:
- Possessing a commitment and passion for public safety, fire engineering and public service
- Undertaking projects and research, analysing complex information
- Ability to organise, plan and prioritise workload
- Working as part of a team to achieve organisational and functional aims
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to deliver advice and guidance verbally and in writing
Criteria for Fire Safety Engineer applicants:
- Have successfully completed, or be currently studying towards, an accredited fire engineering degree; or
- Have successfully completed an accredited degree in a different engineering discipline; and
- Being committed to completing a postgraduate Masters degree in Fire Engineering and other fire safety related qualifications (fully funded)
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence (desirable for most locations)
- Have a good level of written and verbal communication skills
Some of the key accountabilities of a Fire Safety Engineer:
- Undertaking casework on major engineering and building projects
- Site visits will be required on occasion
- Providing advice and technical support in all matters relating to fire safety engineering and resolving issues as required
- Creating and delivering technical presentations on a range of fire safety engineering issues at meetings, conferences, and workshops
- Preparing and amending of fire safety engineering technical documents
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review fire safety engineering designs during building projects
- Working alongside external committees, research institutions and fire engineering consultancies
- A commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Ability to lead others in line with the National Fire Chiefs Council leadership framework
