    Job summary

    NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board isseeking an experienced Senior Contract Manager to join our team which manages alarge portfolio of contracts delivering a wide range of health services.

    The successful candidate will be an established ordeveloping leader and you will be highly organised, an excellent communicator,competent with technology, and with experience of co-ordinating multiplestakeholders and handling sensitive documentation.

    Working closely with internal colleagues and commissionedproviders the postholder will ensure appropriate governance is followed for theaward and ongoing contract and performance management, across a range ofproviders, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

    Main duties of the job

    The postholder will haveexperience of contract management in the public sector. They will have a goodunderstanding of governance and decision making processes for contracts withintheir portfolio.

    The postholder will be anexcellent communicator, verbal and written, both internally and externally.

    The postholder will possessspecialist skills and knowledge to be able to analyse and interpret complexcontractual information and data, which will support the day-to-day managementand performance of contracts within their portfolio.

    The postholder willprovide specialist advice in relation to contractual arrangements and relatedpolicies.

    Job responsibilities

    The post holderis responsible for the negotiation and the commissioning of contracts from arange of providers, including both NHS and non NHS organisations. The post holder will ensure robust contractand performance management of a range of providers working as part of amulti-disciplinary team.

    The role will berequired to build relationships with other stakeholders in the contractsensuring they are appropriately involved in the shaping of the commissioningintentions, management of the contracts, and that there are mechanisms in placeto understand local ICB concerns and issues and ensure that feedback isprovided on these.

    The seniorcontracts manager will have responsibility for ensuring day to day issuesrelating to ICB contracts are resolved quickly and effectively

    Experience

    Essential

  • In a commissioning or contract management environment within a Health & Social Care setting
  • Understanding of the NHS and relationships between the Department of Health, Health Providers and regional/local commissioning bodies
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of areas relating to the contractual relationships between commissioners and providers
  • Evidence of managing change
  • Comprehensive experience of project principles techniques and tools such as Prince 2, and of managing successful projects
  • Comprehensive experience of using data and information to understand issues and to formulate recommendations and decisions
  • Significant experience of working across organisational boundaries, and of negotiating with other organisations
  • Expert understanding of the NHS Commissioning cycle and the contract management process
  • Numerate & IT Literate (working knowledge of Microsoft Office)
  • Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information; negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups.

  • Education to Masters Level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
  • Member of a relevant professional body
  • Specialist knowledge of NHS contracting processes eg contract validation, National Tariff Payment System PbR negotiation, performance requirements, significant relevant experience at a senior level eg contract delivery, service review processes, gained within the NHS or commercial healthcare sector
