Priory Hospital Cardiff are currently looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team.

Priory Hospital Cardiff is a modern mental health treatment unit. The unit includes accommodation for 45 patients and a variety of facilities, such as three secure gardens, a gym, a hydrotherapy pool, patient practice kitchens, patient social area, art rooms and dedicated support service areas.


The service is currently being developed to provide bespoke treatment packages for a variety of patients with complex mental health needs.

The unit will provide a modern, homely environment promoting independence, whilst employing an experienced mutli-disciplinary team to oversee and support patient progress.


As a Maintenance Assistant, your primary duty will be to ensure that the hospital is maintained in a safe, optimal condition to support patient care.


You will need to work closely with the estates department and Unit Manager to ensure that all fixtures and fittings are in excellent condition and equipment is regularly serviced.


Duties will include:


  • Ensuring the hospital is maintained as a safe and secure place for patients and service users to be within
  • Work on the environmental plan to carry out local painting within the site
  • Log and record environmental faults
  • Maintain the hospital grounds to ensure they are in excellent condition
  • Carry out routine health and safety checks and tests
  • Work closely with the Unit Manager on long term maintenance plans
  • Check and repair fixtures and fittings that may include lighting and heating

Essential:


  • To have a proactive approach in the identification/resolution of defects.
  • Experience of general painting/redecoration works
  • Awareness of general plumbing including carrying out water temperature checks and plant room checks
  • Electrical awareness so that you can become familiar with the hospital's electrical safe isolation points
  • Experience of carrying out fire safety checks ensuring all paperwork is completed,
  • Have a basic understanding of what contractors are doing when carrying out planned maintenance tasks.
  • The ability to become familiar with the building layout and access to services
  • Experience of dealing with COSHH substances and the Health & Safety rules around these substances
  • Be competent in Manual Handling techniques
  • Have good IT skills and be able to resolve any local IT issues (connecting PC's/networks & Printers)
  • Good time keeper and good customer service skills.
  • May be required to work alone and follow lone working procedures.
  • Experience in managing contractors whilst on site, ensuring they are inducted and comply to the sites Health & Safety Arrangements.
  • Work as part of the oncall rota within the Maintenance Team

Desirable:


  • Hold a full clean driving licence
  • Drive hospital vehicle
  • Arranging Servicing and MoT of Pool Car
