JOB DESCRIPTION - Shift Supervisor
As supervisor, your duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Providing technical support and leadership and direction to your team.
  • Functioning as the principal HV-AP.
  • Functioning as a multiskilled leader, responding effectively to critical and noncritical engineering mechanical/electrical events. Following established incident management protocols.
  • Monitor plant status and manage the plant, personnel issues, and other engineering matters and progress them to their resolutions. Escalate any issues to the Technical Service Manager and demonstrate what action has been taken.
  • Contributing ideas to help with continuous improvement and development of operational processes and procedures.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders and representing the company in a positive professional manner.
  • Ensuring site plant rooms, storage areas, and other engineering facilities are audited, kept clean, tidy and organised with the engineering plant left fully operational.
  • Managing an inventory of regularly used parts and critical spares. Effectively identifying and ordering parts as needed.
  • Manager subcontractors attending site and issue ATW and permits as and when required in line with company procedures.
  • Assisting permit officer by adhering to the safe system of work program, controlling contractors, and issuing ATW's and PTW's.
  • Providing full technical support and expertise for your portfolio of buildings to duty engineers.
  • Making sure the asset register is updated as new assets are added or old assets retired.
  • Maintaining daily, weekly, monthly statutory and nonstatutory documentation. Carrying out site audits to ensure log and associated service works remain compliant.
  • Making sure that plantrooms, working & storage areas, and any other areas under our responsibility/custodianship are kept clean, tidy, and well maintained at all times, projecting a positive image of our approach and control.
  • Ensuring all staff under your control are working in line with their RAMS and undertaking point of work risk assessments.
  • Ensuring all staff under your control have, and are using, the appropriate PPE for their tasks.
  • Ensuring that all safety arrangements (for example eye wash stations, ladder inspections, and equipment calibration) are on an appropriate schedule for checking and remain 'in date' and 'fit for use'.
  • Ensuring all staff under your control are dressed smartly in the appropriate company uniform at all times.
  • Ensuring that all staff under your control recognise that we work in a 'service' industry, where customer care is a critical part of our role. Helping to train, support and coach their team as necessary in this regard
  • Enforcing Team's adhere to all relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with the central help desk team with regards to PPM and reactive task allocations, closures, extensions and updates.
  • Managing the implementation of the company's and local holiday policy shift team, ensuring the shift has minimum numbers at all time while remaining conscious of overtime expenditures.
  • Ensuring team's adherence to absence procedures
  • Directing, Communicating, and interacting positively with team members to deliver Tool Box Talk, back to work interviews, technical training etc.
  • Work in line with company QSHE policy by ensuring work is carried out safely and to a high standard, as well as report hazards, accidents and incidents when observed.
  • Responding positively to reasonable requests in support of the contract goals, as may be directed by the Technical Service Manager, other senior management, and the client.
  • The above is not an exhaustive list and you may be asked from time to time to cover duties not listed above.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Technical qualifications in an electrical (preferable) and/or mechanical discipline
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate and communicate appropriately to all the levels within the Business and to the client across all disciplines
  • HV-AP JPS 375 qualified, and willing to undergo the relevant training to obtain PS-AP qualification, with the ability Maintain/extend both qualifications to continue within the roles.
  • 18th Edition qualified.
  • Flexible, with the ability to work under pressure whilst looking for continual improvements to service delivery.
  • Ability to think outside the box when problem solving.
  • Providing a proactive disposition to always improve our service delivery
  • Knowledgeable of both Mechanical and Electrical building services
  • IT literate, with the ability to navigate spreadsheet and effectively utilize outlook, work and other related software
