    Job summary

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and dedicated Practice Nurse to work alongside our team or doctors, paramedics, ANP, Pharmacists, Health Care Assistants and GP Assistant.

    We are looking for a Part time Practice Nurse - hours negotiable within 16-20 hours per week.

    Main duties of the job

    You will help to deliver nursing services to our local population including but not limited to dressing changes, immunisations, smear testing, B12 injections and managing long term conditions.

    Henry Moore Clinic has 2 sites with 5 GP Partners with over 11,000 patients.

    Our practice has a very strong training ethos. We train GP Registrars and medical students.

    As a forward-thinking practice, we require a similarly motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    The practice nurse will work as part of theprimary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients ofpractice.

    Job responsibilities:

    Assist in andperform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursingstaff and GPs

    Cytology

    Wound care /ulcer care

    Removal ofSutures

    Urinalysis

    Travel Clinic

    ECGs

    Asthma/Peak FlowReadings/Spirometry

    Venepuncture

    HypertensionManagement

    Ear syringing

    Routineimmunizations/Childhood immunisations

    Chaperoning andassisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by anotherclinician

    Assisting GPswith minor surgery and coil fittings

    Requestingpathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

    Interest inDiabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception.

    Following agreedclinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate

    Other tasks willinclude

    Maintaining andcleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs

    Maintaining andcleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs

    Maintaining GPand Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required

    Chaperoning andassisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.

    Maintain generaltidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms

    Maintain stock ofwaiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager

    Ordering ofHealth Promotion Literature

    Ordering of stockfrom the District Hospital

    Ordering ofvaccinations to maintain stock levels

    Participation inadministrative systems in the Practice

    At all timesthere will be a need to maintain accurate records

    A duty to advise nurses of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks

    Attend andparticipate in any Practice meetings when required.

    On occasion theremay be a requirement to undertake home visits

    Any otherdelegated duties appropriate to the post

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and The Scope of Professional Practice
  • Experience of working as a Practice Nurse in a primary care setting
  • Experience of dealing with the public/patients
  • Experience of long term condition management, Diabetes, COPD, Asthma
