Do you have a passion for neuro-rehabilitation and love working in a supportive and dynamic multi-disciplinary team? CNRU is a 15-bedded specialist neuro-rehabilitation unit based on the Charing Cross Hospital site.

The unit benefits from leadership from our Consultant in Rehabilitation and has strong links with local stroke services, our major trauma unit and community neurological services.


Job purpose:


The post holder will be part of the multidisciplinary team working on the Charing Cross Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit (CNRU), a dedicated bedded level-2 neuro-rehabilitation service provided to patients from Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham boroughs.

The post holder will provide a specialist SLT rehabilitation service to adult inpatients with disorders of communication and/or swallow arising from acquired neurological conditions.

The post holder will receive regular support and supervision from a Band 7 SLT.

The post holder will continue to gain wider clinical experience and expertise through clinical support and be able to make independent clinical decisions concerning caseload management, as well as participating in service, team and MDT developments.


  • To demonstrate specialist knowledge and skill in acquired disorders of communication and swallowing underpinned by current evidence based practice.
  • To independently manage a caseload of patients with communication and swallowing difficulties arising from a variety of medical, surgical and neurological aetiologies.
  • To provide specialist assessment and diagnosis, treatment planning and implementation, advice and liaison to patients and those caring for them.
  • To work with the multidisciplinary team to provide a coordinated therapy programme for each patient, contributing to patientcentred goal planning.
