    Situated within our comprehensive facility Ward D9 is dedicated to supporting individuals facing cancer diagnoses, offering specialized care tailored to their unique needs.

    As a cornerstone of cancer care Ward D9 caters to patients undergoing various treatment modalities including chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

    Whether patients require inpatient chemotherapy regimens or hospitalization for radiotherapy-related issues our team is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care at every stage of their journey.


    With five side rooms, an eight-bedded bay, a seven-bedded bay, two four-bedded bays and two three-bedded bays, our facility ensures optimal comfort and privacy for each individual under our care.


    In this dynamic environment you will play a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ward ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to our patients.

    Your responsibilities will encompass providing leadership and support to the ward staff, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration, and promoting a culture of excellence in patient care.

    This role involves working various shifts to ensure comprehensive coverage and continuity of care for our patients.


    Experience in oncology nursing is highly valued for this position, as is a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of individuals battling cancer.

    Current registration with NMC
    Chemotherapy competent
    Evidence of continuous professional development with application.

    Relevant post registration experience in oncology
    Demonstrate expert nursing skills
    Experience in mentoring and teaching junior staff
    Deputising for Senior Sister/ Senior Charge Nurse in their absence
    Experience of shift/ward management in the absence of senior colleagues

    NMC Code of Conduct and guidelines for professional practice
    Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing care within the clinical area (haemato/oncology)
    An understanding of the professional nursing agenda.

    Awareness of broader issues affecting healthcare provision
    Knowledge of Risk management processes
    Health and safety awareness
    Quality issues and clinical governance awareness

    Competent in chemotherapy and management of oncology patients
    Ability to provide leadership in order to influence patient care standards
    Counselling skills
    Good understanding of triage or acute care
