    Security Manager

    Bylor is a joint venture between Bouygues and Laing O'Rourke (LOR) to build the new nuclear reactor site at Hinkley Point, Hinkley Point C (HPC).

    This post will have dual reporting responsibilities and will work under the guidance of a senior manager within the Bylor Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and be a member of the Laing O'Rourke (LOR) Group Security Team; there will also be a very close working relationship with the NNB (Nuclear New Build) Operational Security Team and G4S at HPC.

    The focus of the role is to assist in the development and maintenance of security solutions which protect Bylor's people, physical assets, information, and reputation within the HPC site. The role is site based and will operate at an operational level across Bylor's platforms and work areas within the HPC site and its affiliated sites nearby.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the Bylor Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and LOR Group Security Team to ensure security compliance and standards are maintained at an operational level
    • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the onsite NNB Operational Security Team and onsite Avon & Somerset Police officers
    • Develop an in depth understanding of all HPC site security related policies and procedures
    • Provide regular update reports to the Bylor SLTand LOR Group Security Team as required and/or specified
    • Become the first point of contact within Bylor for any operational security related issues, incidents, or emergencies within Bylor's areas of responsibility
    • Promote securityculture, compliance and awareness across the Bylor workforce
    • Work within the HPC site Tier 1 security community (e.g., Balfour Beatty, MEH Alliance etc.) to enhance the security culture
    • Maintain and develop strategic and tactical threat and risk assessments for the Bylor SLT and monitor effective control measures to manage them
    • Develop appropriate strategies that proactively contribute to the safety and security of our workforce, visitors and contractors, the reduction of harm, loss and damage to our physical assets, data, information, reputation, and business resilience
    • Monitor security compliance against the Bylor site security management plan including access controls, people protection, security of plant, equipment, and materials
    • Develop and deliver professional security-related briefings, presentations, and training on key security related topics
    • Conduct reviews of site area specific security plans and develop action plans which will respond to any deficiencies or shortcomings as appropriate
    • Carry out security related compliance audits on all Bylor work areas including office spaces

    Candidate Profile:

    • Essential experience: at least five years of operational policing experience, five years of relevant military experience or a minimum of 3 years commercial security experience in construction, engineering, oil & gas, mining, or similar industry, together with relevant security qualifications
    • Intellectual depth – must be able to demonstrate commitment or willingness to continuous professional development
    • Language skills: English (fluent spoken and written), articulate and confident presenter in meetings
    • Personal and professional integrity of the highest calibre; must undergo rigorous pre-employment screening, site vetting process and successful site induction
    • An effective communicator with good interpersonal skills; must have a collaborative style and the ability to influence across the operational areas of the project and achieve buy-in
    • must be a problem-solver and have the ability and experience of working with minimum supervision and instruction; a self-starter who takes responsibility and shows initiative
    • must have good investigative skills including interviewing of witnesses and employees subject to misconduct enquiries, managing integrity of evidence
    • IT Skills: must be computer literate, MS Office programs and ready ability to learn in-house systems
    • Be able to self-deliver and work independently, adjusting priorities in rapidly changing circumstances
