    Primary Objectives

    The primary duty of the Senior Financial Accountant is responsibility for all aspects related to statutory accounting and compliance. This includes taking ownership of the statutory audit process and preparation of financial statements for the group, managing requirements related to company registrations in Europe and supporting the US tax team on various aspects of tax compliance.

    Primary Responsibilities

    In the role of Senior Accounting Assistant, we'll count on you to:

  • Managing year end external statutory audit, including liaison with the auditors to agree to a suitable timetable, coordinating audit requests with various stakeholders across HDR to obtain required information and provide to external auditors in a timely manner, and ensuring the audit is completed and statutory accounts fully signed in line with the required deadline.
  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements, including Cash Flows, for the UK and Subsidiaries
  • Reconciliation with commentary between the Primary GAAP and Secondary GAAP ledgers
  • Coordinating the R&D tax credit process
  • Monthly UK GAAP preparation with variance analysis
  • Managing requirements related to company registrations in Europe.
  • Oversee any audits or other compliance matters related to registrations in Europe.
  • Work with local advisors to ensure the filing of various returns as required.
  • Support the US tax team on various aspects of tax compliance.
  • Coordinate requests for statutory and ad hoc payments (PAYE, corporation tax, etc.)
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis when required.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Finance and Accounting Manager as required.
  • Ensure Senior Financial Accountant processes are documented and reviewed regularly.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

  • ACCA / CIMA part-qualified or recently qualified
  • Previous experience of working with accounting systems and ERP, ideally EBS and Oracle
  • Competency in MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Proven experience of working in a similar finance role, including preparing consolidated Group financials and financials for international subsidiaries
  • Must be a team player, willing to step into the wider team roles when required
  • Strong understanding of processes and ability to work within a framework to make things happen.
  • Analytic with strong academic background
  • Structured and organised in their approach.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • A good communicator and collaborate effectively with a broad range of non-financial staff.
  • Able to work comfortably in an agile environment with the ability to make rapid decisions in a fast-moving company.
