    Job Description

    We're looking for a Full Stack (FS) developer to work on the company's flagship software solutions in digital pathology and healthcare – this is during a rapid phase of growth in the company so the role holder will be responsible for working on software solutions that impact across the service within a sector where Source LDPath is a leading driver of innovation and performance.

    The FS developer will join a remote dynamic team to solve challenges and puzzles across an evolving and complex technical stack to deliver highly novel and innovative advancements within a demanding and high-volume environment.

    Summary :

    As part of the highly collaborative role, you will be working within a software development team and with our technical and software leads, where you will be working and leading on designing modular software components and features for the next generation of digital pathology software.

    The role will cover day-to-day work across a complex tech stack within a cloud-based environment (AWS) so any ideal candidate should have experience of working with cloud-based tools. The work role will involve working across a range of back-end and front-end applications and services, including Windows, Linux and serverless applications, deployments and APIs.

    The company's software interfaces with digital slide scanners, cloud solutions, APIs (both internal and external), a broad range of healthcare software connections and integration engines so candidates should be comfortable working in large scale and complex environments.

    The role will involve helping to develop and create features for the company's key software in the digital pathology space working across a range of modular components, including but not limited to, lab management, reporting, integration, financial software connectivity, mobile applications, web applications, APIs both internal and external such as interfacing with NHS Trusts or nationwide interfaces or for specific clients/integrations as well as interfacing with machine learning components.

    About The Role :

    The following qualities are what we are seeking for the role and how they would relate to their daily activities.

    • Designing and implementation of features and applications, end-to-end. The developer would be required to work across all aspects of agile software development, take ownership of helping to develop new features, extend existing ones and to support in the creation of the required infrastructure. The role will work alongside other members of the development team, including the technical leads as well as junior members and a business analyst/project manager.
    • Working on flagship software and modular components. The role will involve work in software release settings initially to work on the company's flagship software in digital pathology which involve work in a cloud-based environment potentially on both back-end and front-end components, as well as creation of, and interfacing with existing, APIs and other integrations.
    • Monitor and safeguard applications . The role will involve work on ensuring application performance, uptime, monitoring, scalability and high standards for development.

    Working within an evolving CI/CD and responsive environment. The role will involve work in cloud-based environments, and by the nature of the software, will work on iterative releases.

    Qualifications

    The following are notes relating to required elements for potential candidates and description of ideal qualities.

    • Ability to translate high level requirements into actionable and sustainable design and successful implementation. The role will require a candidate, who alongside the team and business analyst, can turn feature and application requirements into technical development that is actionable and sustainable as part of on-going development.
    • An architect capable of optimisation for speed and scaling. The role will require working with a varied tech stack across different areas of the business and will require ability to help design, as well as provide guidance on, building solutions that will work at scale efficiently and to be robustly designed.
    • Problem-solver. The development of any complex project can throw up a range of problems, potentially in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines. These problems can occur in the successful delivery of a project at any stage and with any stakeholders, so the developer should be comfortable in helping to work through problems and to engage in removal of blockers and the implementations.
    • An effective and versatile team worker. As the service grows rapidly, with the combined large volume of data and clients, it is critical that the successful candidate is a versatile and agile team worker, capable of working in demanding environments and timeframes within the team, across a range of roles as the projects demand.

    As part of the development team, the main areas that the successful candidate will be involved in will be the developmental role where they will initially be working on:

    • The flagship software (LIMS2) and related products
    • On-going production requirements, dashboards, analytics and database/systems administrations
    • Managing cloud-based resources

    Role Requirements:

    Essential Criteria :
    Candidates will be required to have the following:

    • At least 3 years of experience working in a professional software development environment with experience in C#, Vue.JS (or related SPA frameworks/JS experience), web development experience and/or a degree in a relevant field with good development skills or equivalent experience
    • Database/data management skills including SQL/Postgres
    • Experience in designing, creating and interacting with highly scalable APIs
    • Experience in working with complex software and tech stacks
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work to deadlines.
    • Self-disciplined and efficient, with a flexible and proactive nature.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Strong workload and prioritisation planning skills.
    • Ability to own and lead development from inception to deployment.
    • Capable of translating high-level direction into design and implementation.
    • Being able to work efficiently in a team environment as well as individually.
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Highly motivated and driven individual.

    These are criteria that will give candidates an edge, but they are not strictly required:

    • Previous experience in healthcare software development/projects
    • Knowledge/experience in Python, Lambda, serverless applications
    • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability, HL7/FHIR or any other protocols
    • Working with large scale real-time systems, compression and optimisation
    • Single-page application development at scale
    • Knowledge of, or experience in cloud-based environments
