    Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) NHS Trust are the leading provider of community health in the United Kingdom covering 11 London Boroughs and Hertfordshire with over 900

    Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) in seven professional groups - Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Orthoptists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists and Speech and Language Therapists. AHPs are 30% of the clinical workforce at CLCH providing assessment and treatment interventions across the lifespan from birth to end of life care.

    Apprenticeships are designed to give talented people an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst completing on-the-job training with our highly skilled AHP clinicians. At CLCH we are delighted to have created new Band 4 AHP Apprentice opportunities in a range of professional groups. The Band 4 AHP Apprentice is a developmental role over four years where you will work towards successful completion of a BSc Degree in an Allied Health Profession recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of an AHP through your Apprenticeship within the clinical service until completion of the training programme.

    Main duties of the job

    The AHP Apprenticeship Programme combines integrated academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between CLCH and the Education Provider. You can expect 80% of your time learning on the job in a clinical setting and 20% of your time learning off the job at university. CLCH offers outstanding support to proactively help you with your career journey. You will receive high quality training from our chosen Education Provider, a chance to network and meet other AHP Apprentices on your journey and a Forum for you to put forward innovative ideas to strengthen our clinical services for the better.

    To qualify for the AHP Apprenticeship Programme you must meet the following criteria:

  • Aged over 18 on the first day of the Apprenticeship
  • Work hours per week, including any off-the-job training undertaken
  • Must have UK Maths and English Level 2 or GCSE Grade C/4 with certificates to evidence
  • Successfully completed study at Level 3 including Science (most Universities do not accept City and Guilds nor NVQ as Level 3 qualifications)
  • Not currently undertaking any other Apprenticeship or DfE FE/HE Programme at the same time as starting the Apprenticeship
  • Must have been an ordinary resident in the United Kingdom for three years prior to the start of the AHP Apprenticeship
  • Eligible residency status - visa must cover the full duration of the AHP Apprenticeship Programme

    Job responsibilities

  • Organise and manage a clinical caseload which will include gaining knowledge and experience of providing AHP care for patients with a variety of health conditions
  • Gain knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised treatment programmes for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs
  • Provide appropriate education to patients with diverse health conditions, utilising analytical and reasoning skills in this process in order to empower the patient and others to participate in the patients self-care
  • Gain experience during the period of the Apprenticeship in a wide range of clinical areas
  • Attending University, clinical placements and tri-partite meetings as set out in the AHP Apprenticeship programme.

    Person Specification

    Education/Qualification

    Essential

  • UK Maths and English level 2 with certificates to evidence (This includes: functional skills level 2, GCSE C /4 and above or O level C or above) (Any overseas qualifications will need to be accompanied by a UK NARIC statement of comparability and English must have been studied as a first language)
  • Level 3 or above qualification equivalent to a minimum of 120 UCAS points including a science or healthcare subject. This can include A level, Access to Higher Education diploma, BTEC / NVQ Diploma or Extended / National Diploma with certificates
  • Applicants are expected to demonstrate evidence of recent academic achievement, such that they may be deemed capable of study at degree level
