Description
Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:

  • To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans
To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in these specialties
To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies


Clinical responsibilities:

On call for general medicine is a full-shift rota with split weekday and weekend day and night shifts.

The incumbent is expected to look after patients on the respiratory ward and outlying wards and provide respiratory input to other specialities under consultant supervision.

The appointee is expected to supervise more junior members of the team. Trainees are expected to complete Mandatory training and other requirements specified in the curriculum. Trainees are expected to maintain prompt and accurate communication with general practitioners about patients seen in wards and outpatients.
