Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Birmingham.


Role Purpose


The role will include taking over a series of in-flight projects across multiple stakeholders as part of the delivery of the Digital Transformation Programme.

The role holder will bring a wealth of contemporary Digital and Technology project delivery experienceand be an established senior project manager.

The role will take responsibility for programmes and projects and ensure that delivery is underpinned by a professional and methodology -based approach to programme and project management, ensuring that activityis being delivered on schedule, to agreed quality standards and within budget.


Role Duties

  • Programme and Project Management _
  • The role holder will undertake, and support others to undertake, all aspects of project and programme management from across a wide variety of highprofile digital related project activities, involving institutional and business change, including thefollowing aspects: _
  • Establish crossfunctional project teams, coordinate staff across the organisation engaged in project work and provide leadership, vision, coaching & direction to team members
  • Ensure that deliverables, objectives, and outcomes of the project(s) are achieved as specified, within timescales, to budget, agreed scope and quality standards
  • Lead project meetings and facilitate workshops as required, producing & presenting written and oral reports/management information to Senior Management and other groups as appropriate.
  • Identify, document, analyse and, if required, challenge internal & external customer requirements, ensuring the project meets business needs / strategic aims
  • Liaise with specialist areas to ensure that they complete specification requirements for their area of accountability
  • Identify and secure resources and expertise as required to deliver the project (including management of thirdparty suppliers as appropriate)
  • Undertake detailed project planning & documentation (defining project scope, deliverables, success criteria, benefits management, dependencies, change control, risk management) including escalating risks & issues as required
  • Assessment and Feasibility _
  • As part of the preparation for project proposals and the project initiation phase, assessment and feasibility activity will be required, including: _
  • Liaison with Business Leads / key colleagues to ensure appropriate assessment & feasibility activity is completed
  • Capture key information including high level objectives, benefits, risks, dependencies, scope, resources and costs
  • Facilitate appropriate discussions with key stakeholders, as required, to enable this information to be articulated e.g., meetings, workshops and one to one conversations 30%
  • Problem Resolution _
  • Assist other Project Managers with the delivery of highlevel project activity, including those experiencing difficulties, undertaking duties such as: _
  • Troubleshooting & problemsolving, including analysis of the problem & exploration of resolution options
  • Offering specialist advice on steps necessary for project recovery & presenting recommendations to senior management
  • Assuming the role of Project Manager when required
  • Establishment of project 'recovery' team(s) to bring activity backon track and ensure a successful outcome

Requirements:

years' experience, successfully managing and monitoring medium to largescale projects through all stages of project life cycle

  • At least 5 years contemporary digital project management experience
  • Excellent understanding of a range of Project Management approaches including Agile, Waterfall and Prince2 with formal training in one or more of these methodologies
  • Extensive knowledge & experience of a range of project management techniques and tools, including relevant software (e.g. Trello, MS Planner, Jira, MS Project)
  • Experience of managing and working on complex crossfunctional projects and project teams (e.g. IT and service provision)
  • Experience of managing, mitigating and reviewing project risks & issues
  • Experience of managing change in a complex organisation
  • Experience of leading/motivating project teams
  • Experience of business case development, analysis of business needs and ability to identify and realise business benefits
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • You will have advisory skills including ability to analyse, troubleshoot, support, challenge and advise other project and programme managers
  • High level influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate effectively in a complexorganisation
