Perth and Kinross are looking for a Community Learning Worker to become part of a dynamic, solution focused youth team.

As part of an integrated service the Youth Work Section provides an early intervention focussed approach for young people aged through a range of projects, activities and achievement awards which aims to support young people deemed to be vulnerable and on the edge of statutory service

The successful applicant will work within a locality and its secondary school and drive forward the promise agenda.


For purposes of connection and collaboration with colleagues and with the community we serve, our full-time employees work on site for a minimum of 2 days per week with the arrangements for part time employees being agreed on a basis which will ensure that they benefit to an equivalent degree.

Requirements:


  • You must have a Degree in Community Learning & Development.
  • You must have knowledge and experience of working with young people in a variety of settings.
  • You must have experience working with vulnerable young people.
  • You must have good knowledge of aces and understand the impact of trauma.
  • You must have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • You must have excellent knowledge of working to reduce barriers for young people.
  • You must have excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise workload and meet deadline.
  • You must have good knowledge and be confident in Microsoft Office, using social media, online planning, learning and communication tools.
  • You should have knowledge and experience of the corporate parenting agenda.
  • You should have experience of supporting young people into positive destinations.
  • You must have experience of using SHANNARI Indicators.
  • You must have knowledge and experience of evaluation methods.

The Individual:


The successful applicant will not only have to demonstrate a commitment to working with young people, but be able to evidence how their support has led to better outcomes for the young person.


You will also be required to have a degree qualification in Community Learning and Development and provide evidence of supporting vulnerable or care experienced young people.


The successful applicant will support the ongoing work to deliver on The Promise and develop champions boards in school for care experienced young people and will support care experienced young people to reach their full potential.


You must have a valid driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
