    Role: Head of Marketing for Oriam
    Directorate: Oriam: Scotland's Sports Performance Centre
    Grade: Grade 8 (£45,585 - £54,395)
    Contract Type: Full-time, open-ended - programme times to be confirmed but are flexible; evening and weekend work will be required

    Purpose of the Role

    The Head of Marketing will lead on the development, planning and management of Oriam's Marketing content, and the core website and social media channels. They will ensure the Oriam brand and profile is being marketed to create business opportunities for Sponsorship and profile development. The Head of Marketing will be responsible for developing and implementing integrated strategies across range of marketing channels to ensure these support Oriam's strategic objectives and business growth. The role will be required to generate strong network relationships to increase business enquiries and business bookings for Oriam.

    The role holder will act as Oriam's marketing expert, advising and collaborating across departments and teams to provide recommendations, drive best practice and deliver social media excellence.

    The role holder will lead a small team to pursue the highest standard of creativity across Oriam's website and core social media channels to ensure target audience engagement.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Oriam Executive, develop an overarching marketing, website and social media strategy which is aligned to the oriam brand and covers all core channels
  • Develop organic social media plans with clear goals which support brand and business enquiries using marketing strategies through existing and, where relevant, new social media channels and platforms (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube etc)
  • To monitor new/emerging trends, channels, or tactical strategies to ensure Oriam is able to take advantage of new opportunities/ channels that our target audiences may be using
  • To provide channel advice to the wider Oriam management team around utilising paid social media campaigns
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the MarComms team, leading the team to deliver timely social media content plans with clear goals which support Oriam's marketing and communications strategies through the appropriate channels and platforms
  • Design and execute best in class content for Oriam's key social media accounts, monitoring best practice within and beyond the Sports & HE sector, leading the team to push boundaries and be at the at the forefront of social media excellence
  • Oversee the curation and management of published content on social channels (images, video and written), ensuring information is accessible and inclusive
  • Develop and expand community and influencer outreach to ensure a pipeline of user generated content alongside managing and developing a team of digital student ambassadors
  • Lead cross team projects and work in partnership with the wider marketing team, student recruitment, corporate communications and web teams to support the development of integrated social media channels and content across target audience groups
  • Utilise the full range of analytical and insight tools to track, adapt, measure and report on performance, setting benchmarks across all activity and providing marketing teams with insight and analysis on which to drive continuous improvement
  • Undertake social listening surveys to measure the impact of activity and engagement with Oriam's key audiences
  • Ensure all activity is delivered within the social media budget
  • Lead, coach, develop and inspire team members towards high performance across all outputs, identifying training and development opportunities as required
  • Co-ordinate cross-department social content, effectively collaborating with internal stakeholders to source content which is aligned to the brand
  • Work across departmental boundaries, linking closely with the Client services and Administration team to manage our online reputation
  • Provide knowledge, advice, and support to the wider Oriam profile growth and brand development as a marketing expert, overseeing production of best practice guides and training sessions to upskill colleagues as necessary
  • Review business opportunities for sponsorship at Oriam and bring these to the Oriam Executive for review
  • Represent the Oriam as required at various internal and external events

    Education, Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

  • Educated to degree level or demonstrate relevant marketing experience
  • Highly creative, and able to demonstrate a proactive approach to work, show initiative with the ability to multi-task and work with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Significant professional experience of working in a marketing-related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, be an organised, hardworking team player who takes a flexible and passionate approach to their work
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of marketing through social media channels
  • Experienced working within brand guidelines
  • Line management experience
  • Excellent communication and IT skills
  • Commercial acumen and experience of managing budgets
  • Desirable

  • Experience in the Sports & or Higher Education sector and an understanding of the macro issues facing the sector.
