What You Will Achieve


The Drug Product Design (DPD) Lab Service Specialist will be responsible and accountable for major aspects of the running of DPD laboratories and, in conjunction with DPD scientists, deliver safe and effective operation of the scientific research that underpins the delivery of quality medicines from DPD.

How You Will Achieve

  • Day to day supervision of laboratory support & operations colleagues who are responsible for the stocking of laboratories with essential equipment, glassware, laboratory disposables, chemicals, and safety/cleaning supplies.
  • Matrix manage DPD scientists and insourced colleagues identified as laboratory coordinators ensuring effective communication and alignment across DPD laboratories, with regular reports on operational status to the DPD Sandwich Management Team.
  • Responsible for delivering routine / planned laboratory closures, shutdowns and reopening via laboratory support & operations colleagues.
  • Maintain the critical contact list for DPD.
  • Facilitate lab equipment moves including timely delivery of change control processes in conjunction with DPD scientists.
  • Deliver the shipping process for scientific samples and equipment to other Pfizer sites and external partners.
  • Accountable for the timely maintenance of equipment and delivery of facility requests via laboratory support & operations colleagues and in conjunction with GO-ELS.
  • Completion of lab safety inspections with department EHS representatives and lab coordinators, with oversight to complete mitigation and corrective actions.
  • Lead and maintain the 5S operational plans for DPD Sandwich laboratories in conjunction with DPD scientists.
  • Deliver the sustainability programs across DPD Laboratories in conjunction with DPD scientists.
  • Responsible for the delivery of laboratory induction training for new starters in DPD.
  • Work with department experts to develop and deliver other laboratory specific training common to DPD laboratories.
  • Support/coordinate the purchase/decommissioning of capital equipment.

Qualifications:

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in life sciences, engineering, or related technical field.
  • Laboratory operations experience.
  • Track record in implementing 5S projects.
  • Experience and or knowledge of laboratory sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience and or knowledge of R&D laboratory operations including lab efficiency, supply, safety, maintenance, and infrastructure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced dynamic work environment.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with benchtop pharmaceutical research instruments and pilot scale formulation development equipment.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and execute on performance data analytics.
  • Experience of project management.
