**Payroll Assistant
Are you seeking a new opportunity set within a large public sector organisation in the Middlesbrough area?

We are looking to speak with enthusiastic and dynamic Payroll Assistants/Administrators keen to secure their next exciting challenge.

Reporting in to the Payroll Team Leader, this role will involve the following.


Duties:

To process and reconcile payrolls end to end in accordance with agreed standards and procedures, including preparation of BACS reports
To maintain the accuracy of payroll records held in the payroll system including the maintaining and creation of standard reports
To liaise with external clients and external stakeholders regarding payroll issues
Act as a point of reference for, and provide information, advice, guidance and support to clients
To perform payroll calculations in respect of salary, pensions, sickness and absence payments
To complete and reconcile reports for creditor payments
To complete year and month end returns for HMRC and other regulatory bodies
To complete all ad hoc forms/request for information for all pensions schemes
To draft routine correspondence to Payroll clients and associated organisations
To keep abreast of changes to statutory payment procedures rules and regulations
To keep abreast of changes in the associated pension scheme regulations
To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, GDPR, security, and other University procedures and codes of conduct, where appropriate
To prepare creditor BACS files for transmission
To assist the Payroll Officers in the on-boarding and exiting of bureau clients
To assist and support colleagues in providing cover in the office for bureau clients and the University payroll in the absence of other team members
Adhere to strict deadlines in accordance with agreed client, University and legal proceduresAdhere to the University's Health and Safety Policy and guidelines


Required experience:


  • GCSE or equivalent in English Language & Mathematics
  • Experience of working in a busy payroll environment within the last 10 years.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working in a busy customer focussed office environment
  • Experience of working with SAGE payroll
