    Maintenance Technician

    As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering Maintenance team in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work on a 24/7 shift pattern.

    About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed:

    QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.

    Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.

    Your new role:

    As a Maintenance Technician at QuidelOrtho, you will provide engineering support to manufacturing value streams and equipment assets at the Pencoed manufacturing site.

    You will report to the Engineering Maintenance Execution Manager/Maintenance Shift Lead and support in equipment maintenance (from repair to overhaul) and ensure all service as well as calibration checks are performed for the specified machines.

    What You'll Be Doing:

  • Maximize Process Equipment Availability/Performance/Quality, relate equipment performance to OEE targets and react to breakdowns whilst displaying excellent fault-finding techniques.
  • Maintain equipment compliance via the equipment management database in SAP.
  • Ensure all equipment reported fields are followed precisely and updated with concise and detailed information.
  • Establish the root cause following the four questions of RCI and capture as well as update all equipment interventions and recoveries to SAP.
  • Develop machine performance metrics linked to the site goals and analyze data and select appropriate tools to ensure that the equipment is operating at level which will enable the value stream to achieve its MPS goals.
  • Plan, organize and undertake programs of work to improve equipment performance and uptime and routinely communicate this activity to operational stakeholders.
  • Plan, organize and undertake service, calibration, and repair of defined equipment for use at the site.
  • Manage service contractors during their site activities. Ensure all routine service and calibration checks are performed for specified equipment. Ensure all test equipment used is calibrated and appropriate records are maintained. Provide reports and documentation to ensure that the service history and performance of defined equipment and instruments are traceable.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of routine maintenance procedures and service contract activities. Update and implement Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) within areas.
  • Provide reasonable overtime support to effectively resolve both operational and non-operational equipment issues. Provide the necessary support to ensure a reasonable and effective engineering 'On-Call' Rota is established and maintained.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role ideally in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals or Consumer).
  • Proven excellent track record of Engineering Maintenance in a highly regulated manufacturing environment as either a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician or Electrical Bias Maintenance Technician.
  • Minimum of an ONC (HNC/HND preferable) in an Engineering discipline is required.
  • Experience working and communicating effectively with cross-functional Operations and Engineering teams.
  • Shift: The ability to work a 24/7 shift pattern (12-hour shifts, which include days, nights & weekend work).
