Summary
The purpose of this role is to support the smooth running of the Communications team.

Working flexibly across the marketing and media, events, content and editorial functions that sit within the team, you will take on a range of responsibilities to help us function at our best.


Key to success in this role is a desire to learn new skills, brilliant time management and organisational abilities, and the ability to keep multiple plates spinning at the same time.


The role


There are three Communications Coordinators in the team, who work flexibly across content, production management, media, marketing, events, internal communications and editorial.

according to the needs of the team.

Examples of the type of work you'll be doing:
Typical media and marketing tasks

  • Media monitoring keeping our media log uptodate and assisting with reporting
  • Proofreading articles and uploading them to our website or intranet page
  • Social media monitoring drafting social media content, social media creative and assisting with scheduling
  • Stakeholder relations activity, for example compiling lists of target stakeholders for a particular project, or ensuring that a new relationship is recorded in our CRM
  • Supporting the delivery of marketing campaigns aimed at a variety of audiences, from forming partnership marketing opportunities to writing marketing copy
Typical events tasks

  • Working with the other coordinators to create, produce and market Nesta's in conversation series Nesta talks to
  • Support wider Nesta teams onsite at external events
Typical content production/editorial/digital platform tasks

  • Helping to ensure content for Nesta's website is kept up to date
  • Building and creating new pages on the Nesta website including writing, editing and proofreading new content
  • Supporting the internal communications team with mixed media outputs for the intranet and the internal newsletter
  • Supporting the management of print and digital reports and marketing materials, including liaising with authors, external creative suppliers and printers, where relevant, and using Salesforce to commission them and arrange payments
  • Proofreading and formatting short reports and using our website to build online reports
  • Helping to produce shareable content for our range of digital channels (including event video, and audio) covering recording, editing and publishing

The person

  • Exceptional organisational skills, able to plan, manage and prioritise their workload
  • An interest in the media landscape relevant to our mission areas
  • Proven writing and editorial ability, with impeccable writing and proofreading skills
  • Experience in managing both in person and digital events is advantageous but not essential
  • Comfortable with a fastpaced environment
As with all members of Nesta's communications team, the postholder will also:

  • Have a proven interest in at least one of Nesta's Mission areas, and in social innovation more broadly
  • Have high standards of written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to write and edit content for a range of audiences
  • Have impeccable grammar and proofreading skills
  • Have proven ability to create simple digital content assets and knowledge and to upload content to a website via a CMS
  • Be an adept and nimble multitasker who relishes being busy, keeping multiple plates spinning, is highly organised and can manage conflicting demands.
  • Have strong networking and relationship building skills
  • Have a positive and can do attitude, able to adapt to changing circumstances with flexibility and good humor, and to work well under pressure
