Job summary


They have an exciting opportunity for the role of Security Adviser (Incidents, Capability and Awareness) reporting to the Head of Security Transformation.

Within this role, you will be the technical adviser on security incidents, capability, and awareness for our client.

As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) you have responsibility for managing security incidents, coordinating security advice, and ensuring specialistsecurity roles at them have the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience and promote a positive security culture.


You will identify requirements for formal training of security specialists, developing and delivering security capability and awareness products for all staff in conjunction with in-house learning and development experts, ensuring a timely and proportionateresponse to all security incidents.


Job description


A key aspect of the role is to act as the SME for security breach and security incident investigations under the direction of the Head of Security and Resilience Transformation, you will have ownership of the process and able to brief at Director and CEOlevel, as required.


Fundamental to this role is to review non-cyber security incidents, working with internal stakeholders to carry out a route-cause analysis, identify non-compliance with controls or response procedures and provide advice and guidance on appropriate and proportionateremedial action.

You will oversee the Security Advice Centre (SAC) ensuring all incidents and queries are answered in a timely manner.


Working in conjunction with their in-house learning and development team, you will help to create relevant and appropriate security, capability, and awareness products for all staff.

This includes maintaining a register of specialist security training acrossthem and maintain accurate and timely data on security and resilience events.

Using your working knowledge of Government security policy, you will maintain an awareness of developments in Government security frameworks, policies, standards, and guidance toensure they keep up to date with current security practices and all relevant security policies are updated regularly and fit for purpose.


This role will require a Security Check to either be transferred to them or completed within 6 months of appointment.

This will include meeting the UK minimum residency requirement of 5 years.

Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable

To be successful in this role, you will have a working knowledge of Government security policy including Security Policy Framework (SPF) and Government Functional Standard GovS: 00

In addition, it is desirable if you have a working knowledge of current supporting polices and minimum standards, including Cyber Assurance Framework (CAF); Personnel Security Policy; Government Security Classifications; Baseline Personnel Security Standard(BPSS) and the Government Supplier Assurance Framework.

Demonstrable experience in delivering security-based training, capability and awareness in public sector organisations is also desirable.
