    Consultant Breast Radiologist

    Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialty interest in Breast Radiology. This is a replacement post following retirement and is available immediately. The appointment will be to NHS Lanarkshire with cross site working between University Hospitals Wishaw, Monklands and Hairmyres expected. The job is offered as 10PA (including up to 2 non-DCC) but applications from those wishing to work less than full time will also be considered.

    The postholder will be involved in the investigation and management of both benign and malignant breast disease. Experience should include comprehensive training in breast radiology including wire guided or wireless localisation of impalpable breast cancers. Experience in a full range of procedural skills such as US and stereotactic biopsy is required.

    Lanarkshire is part of the West of Scotland Clinical Network and the majority of the MDTs work closely with Regional Cancer MDTs. Involvement in MDTs is strongly encouraged. Each hospital has strong links with Glasgow University and the University of Strathclyde. Under- and post-graduate education is an important part of the posts and many consultants are honorary Senior Lecturers at Glasgow University.

    NHS Lanarkshire is situated to the east, south and south-west of Glasgow. As a result, it benefits its proximity to Scotlands largest City and the Leisure, Sport and Entertainment opportunities this brings. However, it is also includes the beautiful Clyde Valley. The coast is nearby to West, Edinburgh is easily reached to the East, the Trossachs National Park to the north or the Scottish Borders to the South. Glasgow, Prestwick and Edinburgh Airports are also within easy reach. Good schools and comparatively affordable housing are available nearby.

    The University of Glasgow enjoys close links with NHS Lanarkshire, and our medical students benefit greatly from the excellent educational opportunities provided by the board in both primary and secondary care. Those who are or who will be involved in teaching our students, or in any other activity which involves a contribution to teaching, research or scholarship within the University are eligible for honorary status at the University of Glasgow.
