    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to join our team at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust. Our department includes dietitians with specialist skills in the areas of oncology, complex nutrition support, surgery, gastroenterology, stroke, neurosciences, critical care and paediatrics.

    The post holder will provide a dietetic service to the gastroenterology and surgical wards, in addition to outpatient clinics. They will have experience in assessing and implementing enteral and parenteral dietetic interventions with a sound knowledge of surgeries and conditions affecting the gastrointestinal system. The role will involve working closely alongside other members of the wider MDT and line management/development of junior members in the gastro/surgery dietetic team.

    You need to have a recognised degree/diploma in Dietetics and have current HCPC registration. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, leadership skills and be a good team worker with the ability to use their own initiative.

    Main duties of the job To work as a specialist Nutrition Support Dietitian, providing expert assessment, monitoring and support for highly complex patients requiring nutritional intervention, using evidence-based practice and conforming to best practice guidelines.

    The post-holder will be involved in the provision of nutrition support including oral/enteral and parenteral feeding routes, particularly for but not exclusive to the specialist areas of gastroenterology and surgery. The post-holder will also support education strategies and initiatives for staff throughout the Trust, to raise standards of care in the provision of adequate nutrition for hospitalised patients.

    Multidisciplinary team working, close liaison between acute and community teams, demonstration of Trust PRIDE values (passion, responsibility, innovation, drive, empowerment) and highly developed skills in communicating with patients, carers, and other service users is essential.     Experience/Knowledge Essential
    • To have at least 1-year acute clinical experience in the relevant field at band 6 level and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience
    • Experience of working with patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition
    Desirable
    • To have 4 years broad clinical experience during band 6 and band 5 roles
    • Experience of gastro/surgical outpatient clinics
    • Experience of leading a small team
