    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a health care assistant to join our dynamic hard working family on Ward roles are essential to the experience of our patients, their relatives and carers and they complement the clinical care provided by our doctors, nurses and therapists.

    D57 is a 30 bedded Healthcare of the Older Person's Admission unit which is fast paced , but also an area where we provide excellent care and strive to continually improve our service for the better of our patients.

    If successful at shortlisting, you will be invited to a face to face interview where you will be asked to complete a numeracy and literacy test prior to interview. We are looking forward to meeting candidates with high levels of care and compassion and who demonstrate the values of team NUH.

    The selected candidate will have excellent communication skills with a positive cheerful nature. Previous experience caring for healthcare of the older persons would be desirable but not essential as the required foundations will be taught.

    The successful candidate will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills. We have two excellent health educators within HCOP (Healthcare of the Older Person) that have a vast of knowledge and experience to share with you. There will be the opportunity to complete your Care Certificate, Accountability, Venepuncture and Cannulation packages and undertake a link role working alongside a qualified nurse.

    You will be delivering hands on patient care within unit and provide care in conjunction with the registered nurse.

    Job responsibilities

    On Ward D57 / GAU, we take pride in the excellent care that we provide to our patients and families. Therefore we want to hear from candidates with a special talent for caring. Who would go the extra mile to help our patients feel valued and cared for at all times treating them with compassion, dignity and respect.

    You will work alongside the nurses, assisting in admitting our patients, caring for our confused and acutely ill patients and assisting with activities of daily living and providing support to patients and relatives. You will also be expected to assist transferring patients on chairs/trolleys to our step down wards. Cleaning, tidying and stocking up also is a daily task.
