    The Finance and Corporate Services team at Whizz Kidz is the backbone of the charity, giving financial, IT, data protection and governance support and holding us to account.

    Job Description

    The Director of Finance and Corporate Services will have a significant and wide-ranging role at Whizz Kidz, supporting the CEO, Board and wider team on matters ranging from day-to-day financial management, governance, legal, IT, to long-term strategic planning.

    Key responsibilities

    Finance

    • Maintain appropriate financial systems and sound controls, ensuring Whizz Kidz complies with all financial regulatory requirements
    • Ensure comprehensive and reliable financial information is available to support the financial decision-making processes
    • Lead budgeting and forecasting with a strong focus on cash flow
    • Lead and develop the Finance team
    • Provide financial information to the CEO, Board and its committees, including management accounts and regular cashflow forecasts
    • Identify and implement improvements to Whizz Kidz finance systems, procurement and accounting practices
    • Responsibility for payroll and pension oversight
    • Responsibility for all VAT and corporation tax for the charity and its subsidiaries

    Company Secretary & Legal

    • Company Secretary with oversight for all legal matters and contract approvals as both customer and supplier (NHS)
    • Contribution at Board Meetings and lead on the Finance and Audit Committee

    Other responsibilities

    • With the CEO, lead on the development and implementation of the charity's ESG strategy and how we measure and report on progress
    • Facilities Management
    • Statutory Director of Whizz-Mobility CIC

    The Successful Applicant

    We are looking to appoint an exceptional, fully-qualified finance professional who brings breadth of experience, flexibility and a genuine passion for and commitment to Whizz Kidz' mission. They will be a visible and active member of the Senior Management Team, providing inspirational leadership to colleagues and contributing to achieving the charity's vision.

    Skills & knowledge

    • Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent)
    • Strong commercial and financial acumen
    • An ability to see the big picture and to contribute to Whizz Kidz' strategy on the one hand whilst being able to focus in on the detail on the other

    Experience

    • A respected finance leader with a proven ability to make a substantive contribution to the financial success of the organisation
    • Experience at Board or Senior Management level
    • Experience of the non-profit sector and/or the NHS is desirable but not essential
    • Ideally will bring additional experience in areas beyond finance, such as: IT, legal, governance & facilities management
