Description

Do you have proven professional experience gained in communications, public relations, or journalism? Are you looking for a challenging role in an environment that is open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then join the University of East London as a Senior Communications Officer (Corporate).

Your challenge will be to lead on telling stories that can generate maximum impact, particularly in sustainability and GreenTech, health, HealthTech, and cyber and social justice.

We'll rely on you to develop communications strategies that promote our research in these areas. You will also help promote key institutional messages, and leaders, to external and internal audiences alike.

Sourcing news stories that enhance our reputation and brand, and conveying them elegantly in written and digital formats, will be a big part of the role, as will using your network of contacts to get us exposure in the media and professional publications.

Writing speeches, letters, and other content for key stakeholders, uploading content to digital platforms, and producing a variety of regular communications in collaboration with our graphic designers - these are just some aspects of this high-profile role.

To succeed, you'll need relevant professional experience, including either working for a regional or national media outlet or placing stories in those mediums.

Adept at producing elegant, accurate and mistake-free content, you're also used to creating multi-pronged, multi-channel communications strategies.

What's more you have experience of writing speeches, letters and other material for key stakeholders and coaching them to deliver speeches or public presentations in a professional setting.

A network of media contacts to place stories and enhance the reputation and brand of the university is also required, as is the ability to use social media and digital tools to horizon-scan and spot opportunities.

You'll also need to be forward-thinking, innovative, curious, and high-energy, calm under pressure or in a crisis and able to deliver to very tight and demanding deadlines - someone who can deliver projects from start to finish with little or no direction after being properly briefed and is willing to work some long days, evenings, and weekends (with agreed time off in lieu).

So, if you have what we are looking for and are keen to take on this exciting challenge, get in touch.
