    Full Time - This role is to work from Monday to Friday on site, within the hours of - ( hours per day).

    The collaborative of Digestive Diseases, Urology and General Surgery Services, is looking for an enthusiastic Team Leader who is looking for a challenge, with the potential to develop skills and knowledge and will support the collaborative in obtaining its goals of working through the recovery plan, created by the COVID pandemic and providing a high quality service to its patients. You will work very closely with the Admin Manager and other Team Leaders within the collaborative.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and supervisory skills and be able to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team taking a lead role in providing a comprehensive, effective and professional secretarial and administration support to the service. They will be responsible for ensuring the team deliver an effective and efficient service to General Surgery.

    The post holder will deputise for the Admin Manager in their absence and undertake aspects of a line management role for junior admin support.

    South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

    The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • oGCSE in Maths and English or Functional Skills, Level 2
  • oNVQ3 level Secretarial or Business Administrative qualification or equivalent level of demonstrable experience
  • oMedical Terminology Qualification Level 2 or equivalent level or short courses or equivalent demonstrable working experience in accordance with the Trust's Medical Secretarial Development Framework
  • Desirable

  • People management qualification
  • Audio-typing qualification or equivalent level of working experience with medical terminology
  • Knowledge & Skills

    Essential

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Substantial working knowledge of secretarial/clerical processes
  • Efficient and accurate word processing skills
  • Substantial working knowledge of functionality of Patient Administration Systems
  • Understanding of a range of work procedures associated with outpatient clinic arrangements, secretarial office procedures and case note procedures
  • Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations and patient confidentiality
