    Job summary

    The post holder will support the Managers within the Directorate to deliver effective financial management within the designated areas within the post holder will contribute to the efficient and effective management and operation of the finance function on a day to day basis; and will be capable of working to tight deadlines and able to communicate with a variety of stakeholders including customers and internal staff across theorganisation.

    Main duties of the job

  • Deliver against agreed personal objectives, achieving quality outcomes
  • Undertake financial information analysis as agreed with job lead.
  • Discuss and resolves financial queries and issues with budget holders and wider finance team; including sensitive or contentious information
  • Contribute to effective information management within the team.
  • Analyse and report on data and monitor the processing of data and information
  • Undertake financial analysis using detailed understanding of financial procedures
  • Financial and physical resources

  • Work with senior members of the finance team to support the financial management of the budget for the ICB
  • Work with teams across the ICB to enable the delivery of financial breakeven position
  • Ensure that financial systems, reporting and mechanisms are appropriately maintained to deliver robust and accurate financial information and reporting.
  • Support the teams across the Directorate to assist in the consistency of planning, ledger input and reporting to ensure information is properly managed
  • Contribute to the delivery of the agreed portfolio ensuring it is delivered on time.
  • Act in a way that is compliant with Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions in the discharge of this responsibility

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or experience of working in specialist area.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience in a finance environment, with clear understanding of transactional requirements for financial management
  • Numerate and able to understand financials. Good problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to manage time effectively, prioritise and organise short / medium / long term plans and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Evidence / capable of working to own initiative, balancing complex and competing demands and working to tight and changing demands.
  • Desirable

  • Previously worked in similar position within the NHS
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of equality of opportunity and diversity. Being aware of how individual actions contribute to, and make a difference to, the equality agenda.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge/examples of the accruals and prepayments concepts.
