Based in Dudley (DY1 4DA).
Salary:
Competitive, DOE.
Contract:
Full-time, permanent.
Hayley 247 Engineering Services specialise in providing a comprehensive range of reactive and planned mechanical engineering services to a broad and diverse range of industry sectors.
The Machinist is responsible for operating various centre lathes and bed mills to manufacture parts to sample, drawing or instruction and to a high standard in a reactive breakdown environment.
Machinist - Main duties (not limited to):
- Operating and maintaining various lathe and milling machines
- Reviewing drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production
- Taking precise measurements for cutting or shaping
- Programming & setting the machines to manufacture bespoke parts
- Job planning of various processes to complete the parts.
- Managing the time/ cost expectation of the part to completion
- Recording of job details as required by the process
- Carrying out their own quality inspection where required
- Being flexible with their time to support the business breakdown services
- Working as a team and supporting with problems
- Maintaining a safe and clean workstation
- Always maintaining personal safety by wearing correct PPE
- Being available for overtime as required
What we need from you
- Fully experienced in Prototrak and or Siemens based programming
- Some conventional machining but not essential
- Must be able to understand drawings, sketches, samples & written/ verbal instructions
- Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in math
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift up to 20 kilograms and perform repetitive tasks
- Time served general machinist, preferably in a contract machine shop
- Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly
- Working knowledge of safety protocols
- Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
- 30 days annual leave per annum, inclusive of bank/public holidays (increasing with length of service)
