Band 3 Therapy Support worker Acute Stroke Unit

37.5hours - part time and bank hours also considered

Based at Leicester Royal Infirmary

Mon - Fri (plus weekend and Bank Holiday roster)

Providing rehabilitation for Stroke patients within a hospital setting.


If you have an interest in really helping people and aiding them to make significant improvements in their physical and cognitive abilities after they have suffered from a stroke, this is the post for you.

This role is based on the acute stroke unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The main focus of this post will be to work alongside the Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation package for patients who have had a stroke and are finding the activities that they did previously are now much more difficult.

The post holder will be trained to be able to provide and take responsibility for managing their own caseload, carrying out assessments, treatments and interventions in conjunction with the registered therapy staff.

If you are interested you will need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills, be able to work on your own and within a team.

There are some admin tasks within this role so you will need to have IT skills.

You must have some experience of working within the health or social care setting, and preferably with stroke patients, as well as a genuine desire to work in this field.

Treatments are likely to include carrying out exercises with the patients, running group sessions and helping patients to walk, talk, wash and dress themselves and manage when they go home.

You will work Monday to Friday with weekends and bank holidays on a roster basis (approximately 1:6 weekends).

You will receive regular supervision, appraisal and will benefit from a comprehensive induction and teaching package.

We will expect you to complete the National Care Certificate if you have not already got this but this will be done within the work environment and you will receive plenty of support to do be able to do this.

You will be able to develop your skills within this specialty and within the therapy field.
