    We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Authorised Person (AP) / Deputy Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join a Nuclear Defence project in Berkshire.

    This is a great opportunity to be involved in one of the most complex and challenging projects in the UK today.

    Contract Role, Expected to be Outside IR35, 12 Month+ Contract. £500/day DOE.

    or email - Overview of RoleThe overarching responsibility of the AP is to manage and co-ordinate Electrical safety against the approved project procedures.

    This will include day to day co-ordination of the Electrical AP's, provide due governance and management to meet the Nuclear Licence Conditions, QMS and Project Delivery processes and procedures.

    SC or DV cleared preferable or willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role minimum SC.General ResponsibilitiesYou are responsible to your Manager, as stated above, for the execution of your individual job responsibilities.


    You shall:

    • support your Manager and the staff under your control;
    • maintain a good working relationship with Contractors, the Client, and associated personnel.
    • manage and control your section of the work according to agreed programmes and
    • be conversant with all drawings, specifications and related information for these works.

    To cover your absence from site during holiday periods, you are to handover your duties to a delegate or colleague as agreed with your manager.

    You will be required to accept delegated activities from the SAP(E) / AE (E) in their absence.

    Your main Duties & Responsibilities are as follows:

    • To assist the safe execution of works in line with the Project Completion Schedule.
    • To liaise between the Site Engineering, Construction, Quality, Commissioning teams and the Client as required on matters relating to Electrical safety.
    • To manage and co-ordinate guidance to subcontractors and vendors that provide M&E services to the project.
    • To ensure documentation produced and tests executed by contractors & vendors are done in accordance with project procedures.
    • To audit the Contractors AP's, carry out onsite inspections and ensure registers & schedules are maintained.
    • To manage & co-ordinate, witness & record the safe cross boundary Isolations & Energisations of plant & equipment in accordance with the project requirements against approved test procedures.
    • To assist in the management of the M&E Permit Office function to provide a safe and efficient system for controlling on site M&E 'Live' activities as required.
    • To co-ordinate with the site Utilities teams to co-ordinate external service energisations and shutdowns such as HV.
    • Coordinate with the Construction & Commissioning teams so that they fully understand the requirements of the M&E safety procedures to provide a smooth transition from construction through commissioning and start up to meet the project (Principal Contractor) and Client requirements.
    • To review and approve (when suitable)
    SSoW for energisations, Live testing & Isolations.
    • To review and approve (when suitable)
    Initial Energisation Requests, including site checks of the system.· To train, assess, appoint & audit Authorised Persons (E), maintain the AP(E) register and inform the Permit office of new or lapsed appointments.· To provide training to the project team(s) on Electrical safety.· Review Contractors documentation for suitability, including but not limited to Safe System of Work, test sheets, Setting To Work, Site Acceptance Tests.
    Qualifications and/ or professional memberships· Time served Electrical technician or electrical engineer with onsite experience· 17th / 18th Edition IET Electrical Regulations· Hold electrical testing qualifications (2391 or 2394 & 2395) and have undertaken· AP (E) Training· SMSTS (or equivalent CDM course)· Full First Aid (including Resuscitation)Skills:

    • Articulate technical complexities and have very good communication skills
    • Able to chair meetings and resolve issues.
    • Needs a comprehensive understanding of HSAWA, EAWR, CDM, risk assessments, safety systems, safety cases and SSoW.
    • Able to engage within the project teams to influence strategic outcome across several interlinking projects.

    Experience:

    • Experience of Construction & Commissioning on a large-scale project is essential.
    • Experience of a M&E Permit Office
    • Strong people management skills and process experience.
    • Experience of managing electrical, mechanical systems.
    • Good experience of managing and working with contractors.
    • Strong experience as an AP(E) / SAP(E)
