    Overview

    Join the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) to protect and promote the interests of tenants and others who use social housing services, such as people who may be homeless and Gypsy/Travellers.

    Scottish Ministers would like to appoint one new Board member to complement the existing SHR Board team.

We particularly welcome applications from women, disabled people, LGBT+ people, people from ethnic minority communities and people aged under 50.

    The Scottish Housing Regulator is the independent regulator of Registered Social Landlords and local authority housing services in Scotland. The Regulator has one statutory objective which is to safeguard and promote the interests of:

  • around 600,000 tenants who live in homes provided by social landlords;
  • over 120,000 owners who receive services from social landlords;
  • around 40,000 people and their families who experience homelessness and seek help from local authorities;
  • around 335 Gypsy/Traveller families who can use official sites provided by social landlords.
  • The Board is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring that it achieves its statutory objective and carries out its functions effectively and efficiently. Board Members are accountable to the Scottish Parliament. Find out more and its .

    Skills/Experience Required

    The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Time Commitment and Remuneration

    The average time commitment is approximately 52 days per annum.

    The appointment is non-pensionable and attracts a fee £185.70 per day of no less than 7.5 hours on a pro rata basis. Reasonable travel, subsistence, childcare and dependant carer expenses incurred as a result of carrying out this role will be reimbursed.
