Predominantly based in our new offices and warehouse in Chester, we're seeking a visionary Head of Technical to lead our dynamic team and drive excellence through research, development, and problem-solving. This role follows our recent extensive growth and the successful candidate will help drive forward our continued growth in this exciting period for the business.

    Position Overview: As the Head of Technical, you'll spearhead the creation of bespoke technical solutions that elevate our live productions to new heights. Your leadership will fuel our R&D initiatives, continuing to foster our culture of innovation that sets us apart in the industry. With a focus on ingenuity and precision, you'll tackle complex challenges head-on, ensuring every event and installation leaves a lasting impression.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Technical Visionary: Lead the conceptualization and implementation of bespoke technical solutions tailored to each production's unique requirements, spanning product launches, visitor attractions, theme parks, and more.
    2. R&D Leadership: Drive our research and development efforts, exploring cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, including projection mapping, interactivity, and VR, XR, and AR integration and adding to our existing IP.
    3. Innovative Problem Solver: Tackle technical challenges with creativity and expertise, developing inventive solutions to overcome obstacles and enhance the quality of our productions and installations.
    4. Team Empowerment: Inspire and mentor our team of technicians and engineers, empowering them to push boundaries and achieve excellence in their work across diverse project environments.
    5. Strategic Planning: Collaborate closely with production managers and creative teams to develop comprehensive technical plans that align with artistic vision, client objectives, and logistical constraints. Additionally, contribute to strategic planning initiatives to help grow and expand our business.
    6. Equipment Optimization: Optimize the use of technical equipment and resources, leveraging your expertise to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in delivering immersive experiences.
    7. Quality Assurance Champion: Set rigorous standards for technical quality and reliability, conducting thorough testing and troubleshooting to ensure flawless execution across all projects.
    8. Safety Advocate: Champion safety protocols and best practices, prioritizing the well-being of our team and participants in all technical operations and installations.
    9. Client Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert guidance on technical options and solutions that enhance their vision and exceed expectations for live events, installations, and experiences.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree or advanced training in technical theatre, audiovisual production, engineering, electronics, computing, computer graphics or a related field.
    • Extensive experience in a senior technical role within the live production industry, with a proven track record of delivering bespoke solutions and leading R&D initiatives for large brands.
    • Deep expertise in problem-solving and technical innovation, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible, including experience in projection mapping, interactivity, and VR, XR, and AR integration.
    • Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a knack for inspiring teams to embrace creativity and excellence in diverse project environments.
    • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for technical design and planning.
    • In-depth knowledge of video systems, including projection mapping, LED walls, and video control systems.
    • Detailed knowledge of key software and hardware, including some / all of the following: Disguise, Ventuz, Unreal, Notch, GrandMA3, Protools, Blender, TouchDesigner, Pixera
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a talent for translating technical concepts into accessible language for diverse stakeholders.
    • Commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations and best practices.
    • Flexibility to adapt to evolving production schedules and requirements, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Self-motivated, passionate, and driven to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Proven track record as a team player, with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to go above and beyond to support colleagues and achieve shared goals.
    • Ability to work in Chester for several days a week, with some flexible working. On-site working across the UK and abroad for larger events.
