    Job Description

    The Plant Manager will lead the core operational teams at the Isle of Wight Waste Recovery Park. The focus will be on the management of our 2 key technologies, an Energy Recovery Facility and a Mechanical Treatment Facility. The role requires a technically skilled professional who can lead and inspire large teams, with a deep understanding of heat recovery steam generators and boilers, including design, fabrication, and operation. The individual will be a subject matter expert in Process Safety and will be responsible for managing the site's safety rule systems, equipment lifecycle, and maintenance strategy.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and lead large teams
    • Own the site safety rule systems and be responsible for SAP.
    • Act as the lead on site for HV operations.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on process safety
    • Take on P&L responsibility.
    • Oversee EFW/Power/Gas Turbine operations.
    • Handle waste processing, Materials Recycling, and waste transfer.
    • Focus on continuous optimisation and efficiency of technologies and processes
    • Ensure corporate strategy and business objectives are met and supported.
    • Role model and stand up for Thalia's principles and ethics
    • Strive for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and services.
    • Work to defined KPI deliverables.
    • Develop and implement people plans and strategies that influence business performance.
    • Oversee construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of complex assets.
    • Manage zero-based budgeting and lifecycle costs.

    The Person

    • Relevant technical qualifications in engineering or related field.
    • Expertise in Process Safety.
    • HV trained.
    • Knowledge of profit and loss management.
    • Ability to manage equipment lifecycle and maintenance strategy.
    • Experience in waste processing, Materials Recycling and waste transfer.
    • Developed, implemented, and managed high-risk Safe Systems of Work.
    • Authorised for all high voltage operations and safety-related interventions.
    • Equally adept with both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
    • Development, implementation, and maintenance of Policies and Procedures.
    • Radiation Awareness & Management.
    • Rotating equipment specialist.
    • Deep understanding of heat recovery steam generators and boilers, including design, fabrication, and operation.
    • Has operated successfully across a range of heavy technologies, including thermal power plants.
    • Successfully implemented and managed Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
    • High-level communication and influencing skills.
    • Clear and analytical thinker.
    • Able to diagnose technical issues and link to business performance and assign priorities.
    • Leads by example, with high integrity and ethics.
