The ICC and Vox Conference Centres are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated

Lead Staging Technician to provide staging support to Events within the NEC Group Conventions. The Staging Technician is one of the core personnel for the technical department across convention venues.


As a lead Technician you will be required to deliver a world class service given the information provided to our events and clients experience.


You will have experience in a theatrical or live event stage manager role, with a basic further understanding of Video, Lighting and Sound equipment and service delivery.

You will have in depth rigging, scenic and counterweight flying experience.

Health and Safety plays a massive part in the role and knowledge of safe working practices is required.


Although this post is predominately based at the ICC and Vox (Resorts World), you may be required to travel to other NEC Group venues to support events.


Role responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Leading a team of other technicians on event builds and breakdowns.
  • Leading a team to mark out a floor for an exhibition build. Working from scale drawings.
  • Managing event Build, Live and Derig phases.
  • Managing Exhibition load in with a focus on Health and Safety.
  • Flying scenic elements, screens, video walls and graphics using both electric hoists and counterweight fly systems.
  • Managing speakers, Clients and Presenters backstage and issuing instructions and microphones where appropriate.
  • Building temporary staging structures.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Significant proven experience in Stage and Exhibition Management within live event technical delivery.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with a focus of building motivated and engaged teams
  • Strong customer focus and demonstrably proactive in approach with a can do attitude
  • Must display a positive and proactive attitude towards work and colleagues.
  • Confident, articulate, communicator possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to quality and detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects through highly effective organisational skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions quickly and efficiently
  • Creative thinking with respect to problem solving and utilisation of resources
  • A good basic level of numeracy and literacy.
  • Ability to operate mobile access equipment.
  • Health and Safety Qualification NEBOSH desirable.
  • Knowledge of appropriate CDM Regs, LOLER, PUWER etc.
  • Knowledge of Theatrical Flying systems and Event Rigging.
