SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH Specialism)
Hours of Work: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Term Time
My client, a prestigious educational institution situated within the vibrant borough of Islington, North London, is currently seeking an empathetic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialization in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)

As an SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialization in SEMH, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Providing tailored one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, fostering their emotional well-being and academic development.

Implementing personalized behaviour management strategies to help students regulate their emotions and behaviours effectively within the classroom and school environment.
Collaborating closely with class teachers, the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and external professionals to develop and implement personalized education plans (PEPs) for students with SEMH requirements.
Building positive and supportive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and advocate to facilitate their social and emotional growth.
Assisting in the creation and adaptation of learning resources to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH, ensuring that they are engaged and supported in their learning journey.
To excel in this role, you will need:
Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably within an educational setting.
Patience, empathy, and resilience to effectively support students facing social and emotional challenges.
Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or related fields (desirable).
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification.
