    Description

    Who are we?

Oxa is enabling the transition to self-driving vehicles through an initial focus on the most commercially advanced sector; the autonomous shuttling of goods and people.

We are home to some of the world's leading experts on autonomous vehicles, creating solutions such as Oxa Driver, equipping vehicles with full self-driving functionality; Oxa MetaDriver, using Generative AI to accelerate and assure the safety of deployments; and Oxa Hub, a set of cloud-based offerings for autonomous fleet management. Our technology is being deployed across the UK and the U.S, and we're partnering with a fast-growing ecosystem of operators, vehicle OEMs and equipment makers serving autonomous transportation globally as it advances.

Based in Oxford, and with offices in Canada and the U.S, Oxa was founded in 2014 and is growing rapidly (350+ 'Oxbots' to date). Our purpose is to change the way the Earth moves, through an uncompromising focus on safety, efficiency and explainability of our AI approaches. The company has attracted $225 million from leading investors so far, with $140 million raised in the last Series C funding round in January 2023.

    Your Team

You will join our Zero Occupancy Operations team, where we build the tools and features to enable safe driverless, unsupervised operation of vehicle fleets. As a safety-critical development area, we are looking to embed development best practices that demonstrate our safety-first approach when deploying.

    Your Role

    • Identify elements of industry coding standards (e.g. MISRA C++ 2023, AUTOSAR C++14) that may be challenging to adopt, and either: develop strategies to address them, or provide justification using alternative approaches.
    • Architect, develop, and disseminate safety-relevant coding patterns.
    • Incorporate modern developer tools (e.g. static analysis) to the development lifecycle, and identify how they reduce risks intended to be captured by the standards.
    • Drive coding standards compliance across Oxa for safety-critical and also non-safety critical code (where appropriate).
    • Develop an implementation and validation strategy for safety-critical C++ code as embedded software running on safety-rated hardware, enabling driver out autonomy in on-road applications.
    • Mentor and support engineers with guidance on software and standards.

    Requirements

    What you need to succeed:

    • Strong C++ with compliance to standards experience
    • Experience with embedded systems programming for safety-critical systems
    • Experience with upgrading an existing code-base to comply with relevant coding standards
    • Experience in different methods for following coding standards and the associated benefits and challenges
    • Membership and contributions to industry standards or guidelines.
    • Automotive experience in delivering a commercially viable product subject to industry standards.
    • Strong developer skills
    • Application of safety and systems engineering to real-world projects e.g. autonomous vehicles.

    Extra kudos:

    • Familiar with industry relevant safety standards e.g. ISO 26262, UL4600
    • Robotics / AV knowledge or experience
