While the haematology directorate also operates as a national tertiary centre treating patients with a wide-range of malignant and non-malignant haematology conditions that includes operating a large JACIE accredited blood and marrow transplant (BMT) programme (allogeneic, autologous and Car-T/cellular therapies). The haematology service operates with a total of 58 inpatient beds split across three haematology wards, two of which have dedicated transplant beds. There is also haematology out-patient and day care facilities that incorporates an ambulatory treatment pathway for low-risk transplants, apheresis team that supports stem cell collections and on-site cellular therapy laboratory facilities.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced haemato-oncology nurse to move into a senior nursing leadership role within the Clinical Haematology service, at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as a Band 7 - Senior Charge Nurse covering specialist haematology outpatient and day care services.

    The Clinical Haematology service based at Hammersmith Hospital continues to expand and drive forward innovative and therapeutic advancements in treatment pathways for patients with a wide range of haematological diseases and disorders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dedicated specialist tertiary centre, across malignant and benign haematology services that includes one of the largest haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) programmes in Europe. Our specialist haematology day care unit operates extended hours and a seven-day service, supporting a range of treatment pathways that includes, chemotherapy services, ambulatory care for outpatient HSCT and other cellular therapies, as well as, apheresis services and other supportive therapies.

    Working closely with the Matron and Lead Nurse for Clinical Haematology, the post holder will be a key member of the senior nursing team and extended multi-professional team across the wider department. In addition, the Senior Charge Nurse will play an important role in helping to develop and plan future services as the haematology department continues to evolve and expand, driving service improvement. You will need to be a highly motivated, dynamic and resourceful individual who is able to deal with and respond to complex situations in a busy and demanding clinical service.
