Plus Exhibition, a division of The Plus Group, we are an exhibition stand builder and supplier based in Stoke-on-Trent right in the heart of the UK.

Our employees range from enthusiastic youngsters to loyal veterans with more that 40 years of experience in the exhibition and print service industry.

We work through the UK and mainland Europe installing and dismantling events from little pop ups to huge pavilions.


The role


We're currently 41 people, and we have ambitious growth plans, so we're seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our team in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent on a part-time basis.

This can be anywhere from 15-24 hours a week and schedule can be made to fit you.


Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll be responsible for supporting with all aspects of HR, from managing the HR system and HR administration, to assisting with recruitment, and advising managers on people issues.


This is a stand-alone role with support from the Managing Director, so previous experience in a similar role is essential.

This is a great opportunity for a professional HR Advisor to shape the role and take full ownership of embedding HR practices within our organisation.


Key duties include but are not limited to:

Advice and Guidance

  • Provide day to day advice to Line Managers and employees on general HR related queries.
  • Assist in formal meetings, such as employee disciplinaries and grievances undertaking such tasks as may be required by the Managing Director.
  • Assist managers in performance management and probationary processes and meetings.

Recruitment

  • Undertake employment checks including right to work, qualifications and references.

On-boarding and Induction

  • Administer the process for new employees; prepare contracts, offer letters and process all preemployment checks.
  • Conduct induction meetings with new employees and liaise with Line Managers to ensure they are aware of their responsibility in the induction process.
  • Administer the probation process ensuring managers know when review meetings need to take place.

HR Database and Reporting

  • Be the primary contact for queries on the HRIS.
  • Act as systems administrator for the HRIS, configuring the system as required, controlling all user access, managing data flows in and out of the system and ensuring accuracy and data protection compliance and liaising with HRIS to troubleshoot queries as required.
  • Ensure the HR Database accurately reflects current employee conditions and details. This includes inputting starters and leavers, contractual amendments, change of details, annual leave and recording of sicknesses and other leave.
  • Provide appropriate reports from the HR database for the purpose of auditing and monitoring employee data and training.
  • Database annual cleansing.

Payroll

  • Ensure that all payroll instructions are prepared and logged in time for the monthly payroll run and submitted to Finance, for example, contractual variations, new starters, leavers, pension, overtime etc.

Appraisal and Employee Development

  • Assist with annual appraisal cycle, record completed appraisals and training needs. Monitor completion and collate through HRIS.

Leaver Administration

  • Ensure resignations are acknowledged in a timely manner, the Line Manager is aware of the process and any outstanding annual leave is calculated in accordance with the employee's terms and conditions.
  • Ensure exit interviews are conducted for all employees either face to face or electronically.

Admin

  • Carry out general administration tasks for example, sorting post, telephone answering, devising standard Human Resources documents and letters and managing the HR inbox.
  • Respond to reference requests for current or exemployees.
  • Ensure electronic and paperbased personnel files are maintained and filing/archiving is completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an uptodate Procedures Manual for all HR Administration duties.
  • Ensure Workstation Risk Assessments are conducted for all new starters/ when employee's desk locations change and refer employee issues for Health and Safety risk assessments where appropriate (e.g., maternity).

Projects

  • Taking full responsibility for embedding HR practices within the organisation.
  • Assist the Managing Director in developing and implementing new projects.

Who are we looking for?
As this is a stand-alone role, it would suit a professional who thrives on working autonomously and building relationships. We're looking for a generalist, with excellent organisational and people skills. You'll be a strong communicator with the ability to adapt quickly and influence stakeholders at all levels.


You'll have:


  • Previous HR Advisor or Manager experience, advising on employment issues, and a strong understanding of HR processes and current employment law.
  • Experience working in a similar environment (warehouse, construction, manufacturing).
