- To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and treatment for service users experiencing moderate, severe and complex mental health/psychological problems based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observation and semi-structured interviews with service users, their family and/or carers.
- To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological intervention and/or management of mental health/psychological and/or behavioural difficulties based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and exercising expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence based practice across a full range of care settings.
- To establish rapport and build effective working relationships with service users and all those involved in their psychological, emotional and behavioural well-being.
- To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
- To work jointly with other team members and professionals in delivering the most appropriate clinical service to service users and, where appropriate, their families/carers.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.

We have an excitingopportunity for an enthusiastic Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join theForensic Outreach Liaison Service for Learning Disability and/or Autism (FOLSLDA) on a fixed-term contract until December 2024. The FOLS LDA service workwith adults with a diagnosed learning disability and/or autism who are at riskof contact, or in contact with, the criminal justice system. The service coversWest Yorkshire and Barnsley and is a multi-disciplinary team of healthprofessionals. FOLS is an evolving, dynamic service that provides a formulationdriven, trauma informed and strengths-based approach to risk management.Clinical decisions and risk management are regularly reviewed together as anMDT. The team provides riskassessment, direct therapeutic interventions and supports transitioning out ofsecure settings to patients, as well as consultation, advice, supervision andtraining to relevant services and partners.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible for a caseload ofpatients, completing high quality forensic risk assessment, intervention andconsultation to the patient, other professionals and carers. The post-holderwill formulate complex cases, based on structured risk assessment, and supportthe FOLS MDT to help ensure rigour and quality. They work with patients withvarying needs, presenting challengeissues that can be highly emotive and distressing to services and carers,requiring a calm and professional approach. The post-holder will support apsychology assistant in their role and be receive supervision from the 8bpsychologist in FOLS, as well as management, reflective and clinicalsupervision. FOLS employ a strengths based, trauma informed approach to riskmanagement and the post-holder will need to be confident in this approach.
There are opportunities to receive furthertraining in forensic specific theory and intervention.
