Location:
Swindon - Field based, travel around the UK required - frequency about once or twice per fortnight. (Expenses paid)


This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of Innovate UK's strategies for delivering Transformative Technologies (including technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Engineering Biology, Quantum Technologies, Semiconductors and Future Telecoms) which will underpin the innovations which benefit our economy, environment and society.


As a Future Telecoms Innovation Lead, you will have extensive knowledge and will have developed an extensive knowledge of your areas of responsibility and will be able to articulate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of your portfolio area.

You will use this knowledge to collaborate and lead on defining, influencing and implementing strategy.

W0rking within Innovate UK's Digital & Technologies Domain, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across UKRI and a wide range of external stakeholders across academia, business and government.

You will utilise your communication skills to contribute to and influence key priorities, policies and strategies. You will be encouraged to constantly learn and be empowered to explore your curiosity in this rewarding role

**As an
Information Lead your main responsibilities would be**: - Contribute to the development of team strategies and plans, as well as shaping and managing the development and delivery of strategies and plans that deliver against Innovate UK's Strategic Delivery Plan and priorities for the Digital & Technologies Domain and wider Transformative Technologies and critically Future Telecoms priorities.

  • Lead on the implementation on parts of Transformative Technologies priorities, critically Future Telecoms to enable industry to develop and commercialise new products, processes, business models and services.

This is likely to include:
delivering innovation competitions; commissioning thought leadership pieces and promoting them to industry and government; managing a portfolio of projects; measuring and monitoring success of innovative projects and supporting impact analysis of programmes and projects; and supporting companies we work with to identify and exploit the business opportunities

  • Develop and maintain a community of interest and communicate the aims of the challenge as widely as possible.
  • Work with peers and seniors to build strong relationships with relevant bodies and networks such as businesses, trade associations, Catapults, government departments and agencies, private investors, regulatory bodies and research organisations.
  • Maintain awareness of external thinking on innovation related to Future Telecoms and wider Transformative Technologies priorities.
  • Identify additional opportunities beyond the core work programme that will help meet the associated objectives.

You'll have relevant skills, knowledge and experience in the following:

  • Future Telecomsand related Transformative Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Engineering Biology, Quantum Technologies, Semiconductors and _Future Telecoms._ _
  • Understanding of the barriers to implementing sustainable technologies.
  • Appreciation of the wider industrial landscape in the UK.
  • Knowledge and experience of innovation in a commercial environment.
  • Familiarity with the wider research environment.
  • Strong experience in managing relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of activities or investments and tracking related impacts
  • Ideally, experience of working across the specific technology field (s) and with a broad and uptodate understanding of developments in other technology areas
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and facilitate cooperation/partnership working, and to work across boundaries, whilst still maintaining impact
  • Ability to think and act strategically.
  • Excellent influencing skills.
  • High degree of organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • IT competency.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to present to a wide range of audiences.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
