The Staff Support team sits within Corporate Psychology and Psychotherapy (Corp P&P). Corp P&P oversees the standards of psychology and psychotherapy in SLaM. It has strong links to other disciplines and services. As a department we are made up of skilled staff members from multidisciplinary backgrounds with a range of expertise.


Within Corp P&P we have a programme of projects which are working to address both local and national priorities through workforce, quality improvement and service development projects.

Using a project management approach the work loosely falls under three workstreams, Staff Support, Psychological Workforce and Enabling Service Improvement.


  • To develop, coordinate and ensure the systematic provision of reflective practice, using the RSR (reflect, support, resolve) model, to all clinical staff and personally provide highly specialist clinical input.
  • To lead on the reflective practice workstream and input into a range of projects (including Schwartz Rounds, Critical Incident Staff Support Service, Team Wellbeing Support Plans) from within corporate psychology and psychotherapy, and available to staff of all disciplines across the organization.
  • To lead on the Staff Support post Covid19 response including inreach work, support for those working remotely, Team Leader training, Team Support Plans and so on.
  • To cocreate and initiate further developments in line with the evolving multidisciplinary staff support strategy within the organization.
  • To proactively seek out opportunities to increase awareness around the Staff Support offer and recruit new members to the Staff Support Community of Practice.
  • To ensure that access to staff support reaches most marginalised and 'at risk' groups and to enable staff from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe work environment.
  • To receive training, clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as lead specialist in all Staff Support offer in reflective practice.
  • To provide training, clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as lead specialist in Reflective Practice. To ensure regular training, CPD, conference and supervision events for the Staff Support Community of Practice.
  • To ensure there are sufficient Reflective Practice facilitators trained at all times to meet the need within the Trust.
  • To provide governance, oversight and leadership of the RSR (Reflect, support, resolve) workstream within staff support
  • To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of multidisciplinary staff within our reflective community of practice.
  • To agree outcomes/results with clinical/professional lead and to decide how they are best achieved
  • To undertake service evaluation, audit, research and policy development.
  • To work as an autonomous professional within appropriate professional guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.
  • To work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC/RMHN/BACP/UKCP guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.
