What you'll be doing
1. Finance business partner the home commercial trading team, supporting and proactively driving financially rational decisions across base trading.
2. Analyse key KPIs across volume and value on a weekly basis to produce concise and timely reporting.
3. Evaluate and review ad-hoc in-quarter business cases to agree on corrective trading decisions and risk mitigation.
4. Deep dive into key focus areas within trading P&L and present salient points to wider Commercial Steerco to drive action.
5. Supporting with post-implementation reviews of tests/trials to ensure unbiased performance ealuation and clear recommendations for next steps.
6. Review trading forecasts for risks and opportunities, including in-quarter outlooks, six monthly rolling forecasts, and annual budgets.
7. Support medium and long-term customer trading strategies through opportunity analysis of channel strategy and cross-brand/cross-product optimisation, aligning commercial and consumer strategies.
8. Seek to continuously improve efficiency and accuracy of reporting and forecasts, highlighting data issues and challenges to the appropriate teams.
Skills
1. Advanced financial modelling (Excel) skills - the ability to build/manipulate detailed models to arrive at appropriate outputs/metrics to support decision-making.
2. Able to identify issues and get to root causes through financial analysis and insight to diagnose and solve problems.
3. Experience in finance business partnering, with a proven ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders.
4. Communication skills - translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and non-financial stakeholders through oral and written communication, with the ability to tailor the message to the relevant audience.
5. Able to deal with ambiguity, identify resources to implement and determine pragmatic solutions
6. Background in commercial-related roles preferable, with knowledge of how commercial decisions and trends affect short and long-term financial performance
7. Bias towards bold and confident thinking, challenging the status quo where appropriate
8. Demonstrable professionalism with a proven ability to operate in a complex, fast-paced matrixed business environment
9. Qualified accountant, e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA
