Band 6 Junior Sister / Junior Charge Nurse - Frome Ward (General Surgery)


Frome ward is a 30 bedded ward; it receives all of the emergency General Surgical patients from A&E, clinics and repatriated patients.

On Frome ward you will be caring for acutely unwell patients, some of whom are pre & post ITU and you will be working very closely with the Uro-Oncology & Colo-Rectal CNS Teams alongside the Therapy teams to instigate timely discharges and effective patient flow on the ward.


  • Act as a role model to junior staff, being fully involved in team development and offer support to junior members of the team.
  • Maintain the high standards of care on the ward, participating in audit to monitor these standards.
  • Be able to coordinate patient flow throughout the ward, facilitating admissions and discharges.
  • Assist the Sister in the effective line management of the team and be proactive in staff development.
  • Have insight into budgetary control ensuring efficient use of resources.
