    Description


    We are seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team on a significant UK construction project as a site-based professional.

    This is the Havant Thicket Reservoir Project a large environmental project designed to safeguard water resources for the Southeast.

    You will be reporting directly to the Site Agent, Project Manager, and Contract Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the management and delivery of the project.

    In this role, you'll work within a flexible organisation where self-motivated and practical problem-solvers excel.

    You'll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience through exposure to various matters in a supportive working environment.


    Key responsibilities include:

    Upholding high personal safety and environmental standards, ensuring all activities comply with the company's health and safety and environmental policies and procedures.

    Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications accurately to ensure the precise construction of the works according to client requirements.
    Conducting and ensuring accurate setting out and surveying of all aspects of the works.
    Providing timely and accurate information to the site Works Management to facilitate the timely construction of the works.
    Developing and implementing inspection and test plans.
    Assisting in planning, measuring, monitoring, and reviewing contract progress throughout the project's lifespan.
    Providing precise measurements for required materials and maintaining material reconciliation figures for reporting purposes.
    Receiving materials, conducting checks, and ensuring material delivery tickets are passed on for cost coding.
    Assisting in compiling as-built information and health and safety file documentation.

    Preparing and submitting weekly progress reports for review by the Site Agent or Project Manager, for inclusion in the project's financial CVRs and forecasts to completion.

    Assisting in the preparation of quality, environmental, and health and safety construction plans in a timely manner.


    What we are looking for:
    Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
    Demonstrable leadership skills, and experience in a similar role is desired.
    Strong computer literacy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CAD, LSS surveying packages. Further experience with Civils 3D and other 3D CAD packages is desirable.
    Knowledge of Topcon/Trimble/ Leica machine control/calibrations, including set up/applications is preferred.
    Attention to detail, ensuring maximum accuracy.
    Understanding of surveying and setting out techniques using GPS and Total Stations.

    Good commercial awareness with effective influencing and negotiating skills, as well as an aptitude for developing emerging and new client relationships.

    Knowledge of current civil engineering legislation, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation.

    Highly developed professional communication and negotiation skills, including report writing, preparing business management documents, and presenting information in meetings with clients and other parties.

    The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    The ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in both mathematical and diagrammatic form and handle several abstract and concrete variables.

    Demonstrable ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, supported by strong organisational skills.
    Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances.
