The role:

Support and evolve mission critical insurance and reinsurance software to support the Aspen strategy. Leads all phases of solution development on Guidewire Claimcenter platform. Our Aspen Values are expected to be reflected in the delivery and performance of every role.


Key accountabilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • Support our transition to a modular / servicebased cloud architecture aligning to our tech strategy
  • Contributes to functional strategy development and prioritises the operational deliverables and activities of team to support delivery of overall business targets.
  • Assist Claims delivery lead to define and manage priorities, technical strategies for modernization, and operational standards across the organization.
  • Manages tactical plan and provides support to others to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy.
Policy, Process and Procedures

  • Work in close partnership with the Head of Engineering to create and manage consistent standards and practices across Aspen's development practice
  • Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members.
  • Translates business specifications into design specifications.
  • Ensures that all is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve Aspen's tech stack to increase employee productivity, efficiency, and satisfaction.
  • Ensures that control reports and risk dashboards are developed and maintained for the IT function, to support timely and appropriate decisionmaking and action.
  • Manages the level of service availability delivered to ensure service matches, or exceeds, the current and future needs of the business.
  • Identifies/supports continuous improvement and stepchange opportunities, to increase cost effectiveness and/or infrastructure flexibility.
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

  • Delivers a costeffective IT service to contribute to Aspen's profitability and business performance.
  • Participate in both large
- and small-scale projects for the design, transition, and operational activities associated with the delivery of new or existing IT services to the user community.

  • Build trusting, productive, and sustainable relationships and partnerships with customers to allow IT to deliver maximum value in the services offered across the IT service portfolio.

Skills & experience:

Knowledge And Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems.
  • Deep understanding of cloud technology and SaaS
  • Deep understanding of the architecture discipline, processes, concepts, and best practices
  • Sound knowledge of problem analysis, structure analysis, and design techniques
  • Strong understanding of underlying needs of the business and how own role contributes to these.
  • Business and financial awareness of the impact of Service Levels and any associated failures
  • Communicate schedules, priorities, and status to all levels in the company.
  • Basic knowledge of industry regulations related to building technological solutions
  • Expert understanding of DevOps and Agile principles
  • Should have leadership skills to drive work stream from technical aspects
  • Should have command knowledge on story estimations, design reviews, code reviews, quality code delivery
  • 10+ years in IT field with 7+ years within Guidewire Claims Center in Integration / Configuration Development roles is required
  • Demonstrative experience in migrating ClaimCenter from Onprem to cloud
  • Experience within Financial Services (especially Insurance)
  • Delivered results in environment where 3rd Party Suppliers are responsible for code development
  • Expertise utilizing C#.NET or Python in building underlying backend API Services
  • Ability to draw and present complex solution designs and architecture artifacts
  • Deep London Market experience (claims preferred)
  • Experience working with DXC and WCL
  • Experience designing and implementing microservices based architecture
  • Experience working RESTful and eventdriven architectures
  • Experience in a Web environment utilizing JAVA, Angular, Java Script, Java Server Pages, SQL, web services.
