Description
Day-to-day running of the Pallet Network arm of our operation.


Provide full control of arranging transport movements for group customers from own depot, customer's premises or remote locations with our own in-house transport and external transport solutions on behalf of the Domestic Transit Service.


Ensure that all costs & revenues associated with each job are managed to the highest level providing and associated level of profit.

General Responsibilities
To ensure all work is covered as required by the most effective method and cost.


Implement contractor KPI's which are recorded and reviewed regularly by all staff and are made available to discuss with clients and suppliers.

Ensure all contractors comply with our company policies and make sure we have a SLA with all transport contractors.

Always protect the interests of the business and escalate any areas of concern to the Senior (DTS) Manager


Be commercially astute and ensure that the services are always making a profit and report any losses or suspicious behavior to the Senior (DTS) Manager.

Responsible for the pallet network operation on a daily basis.

Reporting to the manager of the pallet operation.


Specific Responsibilities
Planning deliveries & collections cost effectively

Answering inbound calls to the business and dealing with requests

Planning vehicles around requests, challenges and changes

Monitoring customer requests, allocating jobs and issuing instructions

Keeping up to date with transport issues and dealing with changes to the days schedules

Communicate fleet availability and issues to the whole team

Liaising with drivers and colleagues to ensure on time deliveries

Pre-brief and de-brief drivers on their daily runs throughout the day

Record collection/delivery status and discrepancies in systems and escalate where appropriate

Troubleshooting critical transport related issues as they arise in a live environment

Daily control of general and specific customer transport movements.


Responsible for all the planning and execution of all inbound and outbound cargo through own and remote facilities daily, ensuring all work is completed and all discrepancies are managed and reported.

Ensure compliance to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Legal Requirements.


Developing and nurturing internal and external customer relationships, identifying operational issues, potential problems and seek opportunities to enhance our customer service to all clients.

Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously andefficiently.


Understand the accounting and financial processes and requirements of the business & ensure good negotiation and contractual conduct and commercial awareness.

Deliver excellent customer care and management of all client's expectations.


You will be involved and an integral part in review, development & strategy meeting with clients and suppliers for the operation with the Senior (DTS) Manager.

Promote to clients and potential clients all Uniserve services.

Data entry onto Uniserve own systems, Window programs and pallet network software

Visual checking freight

Assisting with all areas of pallet network operation where and when required

Ensuring there is always adequate cover for the operation


Daily routines
Able to operate effectively in a high-volume service driven transport operation

Ensure professional communications and management of both supplier's and all other Uniserve Departments are always maintained.


Report any resource or operating issues to the (DTS) Traffic Manager that may affect successful completion of the planned work.


To work closely and effectively with the Domestic Transport Traffic team to ensure that all planned work is completed, on time and as requested by clients.

Communicate all delays and issues by exception.


All work to be carried out in accordance with customer' SOP and ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner and returned to the customer, where required.

Completing all functions relating to the pallet operation, from inbound, checks & dispatch, as well as outbound.


Reporting Requirements
Report on all weekly jobs, figures, revenues & issues to the commercial coordinator

Report on any exceptional and interesting customer activities and any new clients.

Report any incident that may have a negative effect on the operations ability to deliver an excellent service.


Additional Requirements


Must be flexible and be prepared to work extra hours or different shifts to complete assigned workloads and holiday cover.
