    Associate Director of Finance
    Corporate Reporting & Compliance

    Sense is recruiting for an Associate Director of Finance, Corporate Reporting & Compliance in Selly Oak, Birmingham on a hybrid basis.

    This is an exciting new role focused assisting the Group Director of Finance and Resources in ensuring that the charity's finances and financial processes are strategically managed to deliver a robust and sustainable foundation for growth and development, and in compliance with all statutory requirements and effective investment principles.

    Provide the Group Director of Finance and Resources with core information relating to the financial performance of the organisation. Contribute to the achievement of Sense's organisational objectives by providing guidance on financial strategy.
    Responsible for production of the annual statutory accounts for all business entities via SUN (or its successor). Ensure VAT, PAYE and corporation tax returns are made accurately and on time.

    Management of Sales ledger (invoicing, accruals, cash collection, debtor control), Purchase ledger (invoice processing and approval, payment runs) and Payroll teams, managing the month end timetable with input into the management reporting cycle.

    Responsible for monthly dashboard, balance sheets and capital expenditure reports, along with cashflow monitoring, forecasting and reporting. Working with fellow Assistant Directors to agree short and long term cashflow forecasting and budgeting.

    Responsible for central purchasing and analysis, supporting on contractual management and liaising with Property team, reporting on corporate suppliers.

    Responsible for legal entity control and reporting, fixed asset investment and Capex control and analysis, managing all audit activity.

    Responsibility for delivering finance function services to Contact, Sense Scotland and any other outsourced services as agreed by Sense.

    Leadership of all systems and processing, including Sales ledger, Purchase ledger and Payroll teams, ensuring that they are engaged and developed to carry out their responsibilities to the best of their ability.

    Responsibility for all aspects of the SUN (or its successor) finance system covering general ledger, purchase ledger, fixed assets register and sales ledger along with other contributing systems.

    Deputise for the Group Director of Finance and Resources and attend senior level meetings when required.
    Qualified account and member of a professional accountancy body e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA with extensive senior level accountancy experience covering management and financial accounting, analysis and reporting.

    A thorough understanding of the Charity SORP and FRS 102 and experience in producing statutory accounts in compliance with the Charity SORP.

    Experience of developing and monitoring a large annual budget within a multi-cost centre environment.

    A proven track record as a people manager, motivating a large finance team with a demonstrable commitment to enabling an inclusive and diverse workforce to reflect our community.

    Excellent MS Excel and financial systems skills.
