    Contract Type: Permanent

    Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week

    Location of post: The Quays, Baglan Energy Park, Neath, SA11 2GG

    We are currently looking for a Pest Control Officer to join our team.

    Working within the Housing and Community Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out investigations, surveys, tests and/or treatments as necessary for the control of pests that are harmful to public health and wellbeing (e.g. rats, mice, bedbugs, cockroaches, fleas and wasps). This post will enable the Council to deliver an effective pest control service that protects residents throughout Neath Port Talbot.

    The main duties of the post;

  • To carry out investigations, surveys, tests and/or treatments of premises and/or land both within the County Borough area for the control of pests that are harmful to public health and wellbeing (e.g. rats, mice, bedbugs, cockroaches, fleas and wasps).
  • To carry out investigations, tests and treatment of sewers, drains, culverts, watercourses, sewerage systems as directed.
  • To conduct initial visits, low risked inspections or revisits as directed, keeping records of such and updating the necessary records as required.
  • Occasionally work outside normal working hours to undertake planned visits as agreed by the Environmental Health Manager.
  • To participate (if required) in the out of hours emergency service and undertake standby duties on a rotational basis.
  • You will have experience in/of;

    Although not essential for this post, it is desirable for you to have experience of pest control treatment work as a Pest Control Technician.

    Ideally you will have;

    Level 2 Pest Control qualification accredited by the British Pest Control Association or Royal Society of Health.

    On the job instruction and training will be provided, and if you don't already hold a Level 2 Pest Control qualification accredited by the British Pest Control Association or Royal Society of Health, you will be required to obtain this qualification within a set period of time.
