This is an exciting time for a registered midwife with good evidence of post qualification experience to join our small team,led by our Quality Improvement Manager and consisting of a Governance Midwife, CTG Lead Midwife and Practice Development Sisters for Midwifery, Neonates and Paediatrics.


The Clinical Governance Midwife will have a key role in delivery of the Division's Governance ambitions as described in the Families Division Risk Management Strategy.

They will work within a small team to provide robust management of process and procedure with regard to patient experience, safety and clinical effectiveness, and quality improvement across the Division.

They will support the Clinical Governance Officer in empowering staff to take responsible action to ensure that learning from incidents is shared across the whole Division and wider organisation.


The Clinical Governance Midwife will have a particular role with regard to the governance of policies and procedures within Division and also in ensuring the dissemination of up to date NICE guidance and the recording of compliance.


  • Be able to effectively communicate in meetings with members of the multiprofessional/management team using negotiating and influencing techniques where appropriate, both within the Division and the wider Trust to provide clear, accurate and concise information around the governance agenda.
  • Responsible for accessing, interpreting and disseminating quality improvement, patient safety and learning from incident information effectively, through production of newsletters and other forms of communication across the Division.
  • Assist the Quality Improvement Manager with QI initiatives to promote best practice.
  • Maintain and produce effective reports, as required, ensuring results are analysed affectively to enable colleagues to report and take appropriate action to address any areas for improvement.
