    Research Support Officer - 6-month Temp - £23.71 per hour - Hybrid/London

    Intergovernmental body is seeking an experienced Research Support Officer to provide support to their Innovation and Partnerships team at their central London headquarters.

    This is a temporary position to start ASAP for an initial 6-month period and will pay £23.71 per hour PAYE.

    The role is hybrid and will involve working at the offices 2-3 days per week.

    The Research Support Officer will support the delivery of project evaluations this financial year. The Research Support Officer will work directly with the Evaluation team on all phases of the evaluation process from data extraction, synthesis, and analysis through to reporting. Duties will include:
    • Documentation review and topic research, including the production of summary notes and annotated literature reviews.
    • Secondary data collection (document retrieval, quantitative data extraction from databases, data cleaning and quality checks)
    • Creation of interview analysis from transcripts of interviews completed.
    • Organise data around the evaluation framework to identify the status of evidence.
    • Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data (through Excel, qualitative coding software, and other tools as relevant)
    • Data visualisation through graphs, charts, matrices etc.
    • Complete synthesis drawing on analysis above to draft assigned country evaluation reports.
    • Support the drafting of briefs, presentations, summaries, and blog posts.
    • Contribute to the preparation of reports addressing cross-cutting themes derived from analysis.
    • Support administrative backstopping to the team, including the organisation of field missions, workshops, and events;
    • Responsible for overall system availability and develops a resilient technical architecture to reduce failures.
    The ideal Research Support Officer will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
    • A Master's degree or equivalent in social science or related fields (international development, economics, politics, sociology etc.) with some element of study/experience of evaluations or research methods.
    • Relevant work experience in a research or evaluation role
    • Firm understanding of international development issues.
    • Good knowledge of research methods, particularly using qualitative data, synthesis
    • Prior experience with programme design and management, monitoring and evaluation in the international development sector and the underlying approaches used such as theory of change and value for money.
    • Good understanding in the processes of undertaking programme reviews, evaluations, and critical research.
    • Excellent presentation, communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently to a high standard, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrable experience with data analysis software desirable (e.g., Excel, NVivo)
    • Experience communicating within a Diplomatic context and with international development partners.
    • Creativity and experience in data visualisation and related tools (e.g. Powerbi)
